Oh I don't know. Given what he expects people to believe through the propaganda, he doesn't strike me as the sharpest sword in the armoury. It's entirely possible that he thinks he can invade Japan without boats.

That is what I really meant. And I agree war would be bad for all sides. However, I think China would risk short term disruptions in trade with the US (which is in trouble anyway) to keep the US or South Korea out of North Korea because they don't want instability on their borders. They have enough problems with illegal immigration from North Korea as it is.

Our trade with China isn't what it was to begin with. Oh yes, it's still huge. But a lot of manufacturing is starting to come back to the US because US producers are sick of dealing with their corrupt system, shoddy workmanship, and having to pay increasing fuel costs to boot. It's cheaper and easier to produce at home, even with the taxes and regulation.

Don't count him out. People said the same thing about Kim Il Jong, and he was around for decades. I think Kim Jong Un is far craftier than anyone has given him credit for.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

From what I understand, China actually said they would not back NK up, should they get too far. Apparently this was in SK news as my bf told me. (Still not so sure though..)

          But.

I can believe that they won't either. Despite the alliance, investing in helping that country out would cause a bigger bite in the arse to them than it would if they didn't.

Some south koreans are not on edge, some are. My bf is shipping out this summer to join US Army for his citizenship, and he is half hoping NK tries something, as a Korean-born. My friend is enlisted in ROK army and was nervous at first, now he says him and his friends at his base ignore news about Un now

If it comes down to a war with China..the US will lose. Especially if nobody else gets involved. Their standing army is as big as our standing army and reserves combined. Now..admittedly right now they do not have all the brand new toys to fight with. Too busy making money..but think about this.

If they put about half their work force to making weapons..they can out produce us if every man, woman, and child in america was producing weapons. Pure numbers game..which we would lose. We might start out doing good..we spend a lot on military, but the longer it went the better things would be for China.

Since other nations would get involved, it might become WWIII which nobody would win. Thankfully I don't think it will come to that.

Why would China fight America, they already own a sizable chunk of it

What on earth makes you think that a war between China and the US would be a conventional war? It doesn't matter how many troops they have, there's an ocean between them.

Any conflict between them will probably be covert, or over third-party soil. And if it escalates to actually using weapons, it will be very, very noisy. And very, very short.

                .
Hubby works quality control for an international firm that does electronic stuff like a 'microwave repeater cell tower site in a box kit, just add tower' with subsidiaries in France, Germany, India, US and an outsource manufacturing facility in China that doesn't belong to them. There are a few products that they get from China that they have to do a 100% QA on [check every single unit instead of a representative sampling] It is getting to the point that they are considering not ordering from any Chinese manufacturer at all in the future.

I know a fair number of people who are simply boycotting every Chinese product on the simple ground that they can not depend upon them for actually being as represented - what with the food adulteration and shoddy workmanship issues. I really don't blame them, I boycott Chinese food products already.

America would absolutely destroy China. What good are numbers if they can't put them to use properly? They'd never make it to America. And if it was in China, we'd bomb their army into oblivion after attaining air supremacy.

And China really doesn't own anything. You see so many people saying they do but they really don't.

I think it's a certain level of obfuscating stupidity. All his threats and going ons are just the same provocation we always see from the North. I think he just doesn't quite know how to balance on the tightrope the way his father did, but I'm also not sure that he's a complete incompetent.

Russians have a great reputation as chess masters. I think North Korea puts them to shame. They've played this game dozens of times and gotten away with it every time.

I think they'll get away with it again. Un is crazy like a fox, and he has detailed instructions from Dad on how to play.
