    Firstly - hey Pepper Haven't seen you here for ages! (if at all...)

    I have a bit of a query, not being over there, but in the interests of 'fairness', wouldn't the obvious response be to actually fund opposing viewpoints, rather than suppress current ones.

    The problem I've always seen is that money talks - loudly. Take MS for example. It's products may not be the best (often tragically so), but because of the money they can afford to invest in marketing, they're still a brand leader in sales. I would say the same would be said for political viewpoints. The more you can spend to get your opinions heard, the more you can make people believe them.

    Someone the other day told me Australia is the only country that actually pays the opposition party to have a 'shadow ministry'. (Is this true?) Personally, I don't have a problem with it - I see it as helping democracy, regardless of the price.
    ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

    SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

      i don't think funding opposing view points will work for commercial radio

      mainly because that would mean... using taxpayer money... to make commercial channels put out shows that may or may not even do well.

      to me that sets up the radio channel as being government-controlled instead of a free market.
      and then of course that means the government would control what you listen to...
      <shudder>

      oh and i never really came here before... new accountz0rz hi

        What I find interesting about this is that it is an illustration of how American political parties really aren't as different as their made to be. They both want to censor other people's voices, they just choose to do it in different ways. They both want to take away other people's civil liberties, they just do it in different ways. They both want "big government," they just want different parts of the government to be big. The Republicans are the ones who constantly tout that they are for "smaller government and lower taxes," which is bullcrap. They want to expand government and tax the hell out of everyone just as bad as the Dems do, the Dems are just a little less subtle about it.
