you make it sound like it wasn't planned. It was all intentional. The GOP knows that in the public eye, the president has the power. So they block any attempts by the president and the dems to actually fix the problems, blame them because they couldn't, then ride the negative publicity on the president to victory. If Romney hadn't been so arrogant and flipped off the majority of the public he would have won.

The GOP is realizing this non-issue is backfiring on them. The public just doesn't care, and the evidence is not going their way.

Meanwhile, the student loan rate issue is rearing its ugly head. This is a no win situation for the GOP. Rates have gone up; if something is not done quick and made retroactive, rates will stay doubled at over 6%. The Democrats want to cap interest rates. Obama wants to tie rates to US Treasury rates. The GOP likes Obama's idea because it is market based. They have to do something; if rates stay the way they are, it will be a major issue in 2014 . . . and right now they have nothing to attack the President on.

This may be an attempt to smooth the waters to reach a deal with Obama on student loans.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.
