    Ho-lee crap.

That is so utterly stupid and counter-factual it's painful to read.

      Who votes for these dumbasses?

Dumbasses who are too ignorant and/or misogynistic to care how far their heads are up their asses, mostly.

I have a hard time believing that those people outnumber normal people.

Wow, just when I think these idiots couldn't possibly get any stupider, they go and shoot their mouths off some more.

Impossible: that would make *them* the normal people, and they cannot outnumber themselves

People of that mindset tend to vote very rigorously while those of more enlightened mien are much more likely to give voting a pass. Unfortunately.

Personally, I'm trying to wrap my head around the thought process that there are potential rapists running around that are thinking, "Well you know, I'd love to rape... but I don't want her to have to pay for an abortion or have to carry something to term. That's just mean!" Where are these selectively empathetic people?

Slight tangent - these dumbasses have their seats and retain their seats because of gerrymandering - drawing district lines so that they have a majority of the districts voting for them in their favor. This is done by shoving as many of the opposition as possible into as few districts as possible.

Let's take a hypothetical situation. We have a city where there are Orange and Purple voters. There are 60,000 Orange voters and 40,000 Purple voters, divided into three districts. But at some point, Purple supporters got control of districting, and drew district lines so that 30,000 of the Orange voters are in District #1 (with only a smattering of Purple voters), leaving only 30,000 divided between the other two districts. While Orange has an overwhelming majority in District #1 (and a majority out of the entire populace), Purple manages to get a slight majority in Districts 2 and 3, resulting in a win for Purple.

This happens all over the country (and, I'm certain, all over the world) to one degree or another. There are quite a few states that are "purple" (more-or-less evenly split between Dems and Reps) when you consider the popular vote, but swing heavily Red in National-level elections. That's the result of gerrymandering.

I get the whole point of gerrymandering, but you'd think that these "purple" and "orange" people would stop voting for the same person over and over again if they keep making dumb accusations such as this.

Not really. They keep voting because they're bigots and/or misogynists. They like statements like this because they can point to them and claim that they aren't bigots and/or misogynists.

Bigots vote bigot into office. Then point at bigot and claim they aren't bigots because the guy they put into office agrees with them. Bigot in office keeps saying stupid shit to maintain the votes of the bigots that put him there.

Alternately, bigots vote bigot into office, then turn around and claim that they aren't bigots because they don't want what their fellow bigot wants.

(ie they may be against the basic principle, but will stop short of whatever action is suggested)

Well, let's be fair here. Liberals are as likely to vote for their guy in districts gerrymandered by their end as the conservatives are.

Fact is most people like their guy . . . and think everyone else is an incompetent boob regardless of political affiliation.

Well, the argument that access to contraception encourages sex has been so well debunked that even the crazies are realizing they need a new argument.

And they're so crazy they don't get how crazy they sound.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.
