    Most major cities skew Democratic.

And the hits just keep on coming . . . .

Rick Perry called the legislature back into special session. I think he plans to keep them there until he gets his way.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

Well that is how they gerrymandered in 2003. They just kept calling sessions.

I wonder if the democrats will flee the capital and deny quorum next.

Il doubt he will be able to get a full quorum at this point.

I'm sure it is, when you're the ones in charge of it.

They actually tried to redistrict her out of a seat... but the feds struck it down.

Wisconsin tried that. It didn't work out too well. I'd love to see Texas Democrats try it, though.

Yeah, under Section 5 of the Civil Rights Act that the SCOTUS just struck down. That won't work again.

Texas legislators *have* done that, though I don't remember which party. They had to leave the state to keep law enforcement from rounding them up and forcing them to attend.

Actually it's the event I keep referencing because it's such a major thing in Texas politics. The Killer D's left the state to prevent quorum during the 2003 redistricting. They fled to New Mexico and some other places. But it was symbolic. You can't filibuster or stop anything procedurally when they have the ability to just keep calling sessions. Interestingly your Governor: Rick Perry.

Ja, I was still living in the Great State of California at the time, but I remember hearing about it. We were all, "Texans are crazy." Because, you know, California is normal with our recall.

I didn't start following politics here till recently, and was totally oblivious for the first two years of my living here. I vaguely recall the 06/07 elections.
