It wasn't the CIA, it was a defense contractor. He specifically got a job with Booz Allen in order to gather evidence about NSA surveillance so he could leak it to the public. He himself freely said that in an interview. It wasn't media conjecture. Greenday might have the specifics wrong, but he is correct in that Snowden did intentionally seek a job for the sole purpose of gathering top secret information and then releasing it publically.

That is why he's being charged with espionage ( but not treason ).

It was his time with the CIA that apparently changed his opinion and convinced him to do it.

But, Gravekeeper. This thread would be so much shorter if Greenday hadn't made vague statements and claimed he committed treason and Nekojin hadn't assumed his lack of detail referred to his joining the CIA and not Booz Allen and then Greenday had chosen "heard it on the news" for his citation.

It's a little on the sad side when the Canadian is often better informed of the goings on in the US than many of us residing stateside.

I was actually aware of the Booz Allen issue - but he only took that job a few months prior to leaking the information, whereas he'd been with the CIA for years.

Which is a far cry from:

It'd be shorter if you just followed the news and knew what I was talking about.

You speak of "the news" as if every outlet served the same information.

Plus, paying attention to "the news" wouldn't help the fact that your comment was ambiguous and could have been taken two separate ways.

It'd be shortest of all if you'd just bloody well cited your sources in the first place. Which you still haven't done. Not a single one.

Just about the only thing going for you is that GK backs up your vagueness. -_-

In a debate, you need to provide evidence. You can't just say "You people need to know what I'm talking about." This is a debate forum, not a psychic forum.

And seeing as your claim is that he joined the CIA specifically to release files on them, which is not true, I think it's a bit silly to call someone else for not knowing what they're talking about when you don't either.

I was just trying to help out the debate. I'm beginning to regret it. >.>

I shouldn't have added in that bit, my apologies.

My main point is simply the lack of citation and vagueness. I don't mean to drag you into it.
