Without a restriction keeping them out of town, it would be too difficult to enforce their not working there. A guess, anyway.

There are also some laws against advertising the brothels, like on billboards and such, so they may be worried they're going to try and recruit customers while they're in town. Some People Are Alive Only Because It's Illegal To Kill Them.

Good for Canada. In Germany, prostitution has moved from "illegal" to "technically illegal, but no-one cares" to finally "fully legal" in 2002, and so far it seems to have been beneficial to almost everyone. Prostitutes are protected by the law and the police, not criminals, they can sue customers for non-payment, of course they enjoy health insurance like everyone else, they pay business taxes, and under certain circumstances (unable to work not due to their own fault) can sue to get their usual salary.
The only restrictions are (of course) forced and underage prostitution, and any town can set zones where prostitution is illegal. Most towns and cities don't bother, as prostitutes tend to be reasonably discreet anyway, a few (like the deeply-catholic Munich) went ahead and made that zone the city limits.Last edited by Kelmon; 01-03-2014, 05:48 PM.

Great idea - when the club was operating, anyone who didn't want to deal with hookers could simply stay out of that club. After all, it's a 2-way street. Prospective clients would go there because that's where the hookers were - and hookers would go there because that's where they knew they could find clients.

Oscar Goodman, the former Mayor of Las Vegas, was trying to get a brothel authorized for Downtown Las Vegas to get the prostitutes off the street. he was unsuccessful during his term. The new Mayor, Carolyn Goodman, is continuing where he left off.
And yes, they have the same last name because they're married. Oscar would still be Mayor if there weren't term limits. Some People Are Alive Only Because It's Illegal To Kill Them.
