There is a distinction to be made here. "Found to be geniune refugee" vs "Refugee status accepted"

A millionaire who follows a script and has no documents is not discernibly different from a genuine refugee. There's a reason people smuggling was such a profitable business.

Not following you here either. People smuggling in the case of refugees is profitable due to volume. They're on a leaky death trap boat because they can't afford any other way and some times don't even know what the country destination is. Just that it's not where they currently are and will likely die.

There's no reason to choose that path unless you have no other options at all.

Because they're under the belief that they can get a free pass. That is, they don't have to look around for housing because it'll be given to them.
