  • The Terminator Model

Somehow someone mixed up the numbers, and it aggrevates me to no end. Everyone calls Arnold's model the T-800, when Kyle in the first movie explicitely says it's not. Just so we all figure it out, he's the Cyberdyne Systems Model T-101 Series 800.

"The 600 Series had rubber skin, we spotted them easy. But these are new. They look human... sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot. I had to wait till he moved on you before I could zero on him." Sgt. Kyle Reese, Tech-Com, DN38416

Therefore, the chassis, which would make up the "T" designation, is -101, while the fleshy-ness is the Series designation. Hence, Arnold's T-101 is always the same because Arnold is apparently the Series 800.

Note: The T-1000 is obviously also a different chassis, hence it's change in "T" designation.

I get this sort of thing all the time what with video games and Airsoft and stuff. Most common of them all? The G36C is ONE variation of the G36. It is NOT the standard, NOT the most common! argh!

Also mp5 vs mp7, but mp7s are kinda thin on the ground. Nevertheless, if you're going to throw out designations at least fucking get them right! *gives sympathy*

I noticed in part 3 that they had screwed up the timeline quite a bit. Right now I can't recall how I figured this out, but I remember figuring that in T2, Jon Connor was around 10, but in T3 they mentioned him being 13 when that all happened.

        That's nothing.

In T1 he was conceived, so it was in 1984 as proven in in all the movies. When the t-1000 looked up his info after killing the cop, it shows his BDay a 2/28/1985.

Now, the second was made in 91, but had no set date. People are happy with 1994 seeing as he claims he's ten, but then how COULD he be ten, if he was born in 85? So he HAD to be 9 offically. Or, the movie could be set in 95 in any case.

Then of course, the third one says he was 13, and that movie was set in 2003, so it's only been six years since his mothers death (Giving up after she saw 1997 past without anything bad). So in that movie, if you go by what computer says he would be 18 years old at the time, and if he was 13 when he came back, he was born in 1985, that means the terminator came back to protect him in 1998. I'm sure you alll know why that is a bad thing.

I usually get make and model type stuff messed up but I always thought it was:

          T - for Terminator, cuz he's a Terminator.

-800 means he's got the new realistic skin and humanish qualities.

-101 means he looks like Arnold. I dunno if the next one in the list would be a 102 or a 202. I never understand those things.

I always found it interesting that nowhere in any of the first three movies do they ever say anything about an "800" series. There's the 600 series that kyle mentions, and then they have a T-1000 in T2, but no one ever says T-800.

The closest I found was a POV scene in T3 where it labels him as a T-850, which I assume was the partial upgrade to the nuclear fuel cell he had.

*cough* They do in the second one. However you'll only see it in the superduper extended with restored deleted scenes stuff. I belive it was shortly after his reboot when his CPU was turned to learning level rather then the read only, which happened after Sara repaired him in the gas station.

The reason the number series got people confused, was because of the toys released had those numbers.

Your right in the fact that 800 is NOT mentioned in the first one. Even in the extended version, and that 101, 102 are all different models.

EDIT 2: If anyone wants, I can give a list of all the different terminators used in books, comics, movies, games.

            Wikipedia was shockenly accurate.

Gee, I thought the one in the first one was referred to as the T-100, and the second one was the T-101. Not sure though, as they didn't make nearly as much mention of the model in the first one as they did in the second.

Actually if you recall the dream sequence that Kyle had, he remembered and relived a scene where another T-101 S-800 came in who looked nothing like Arnold.

Originally it was the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series 800. The "T" wasn't added to the naming structure until later.

This was one of the reasons that I was a little annoyed at first in the Terminator Salvation movie at the sight of the Series 600. Kyle referred to the terminators previous to the Series 800 as having rubber skin and looking obviously non human. Nothing was mentioned at all about them being the larger, lumbering giants that we see in Salvation.

However,it could be argued that the future that we see in Salvation is likely to be a very different future thanks to the effects of the attack on Cyberdyne in the second movie.

Well we know it was an 800, but do we know it was a 101?

Never made much since that Skynet did that. Sure, maybe it was cheaper in terms of resources used (..... yeah strange thinking....)

Think about it. Their job as terminators were to pretend to be human to sneak in and kill more. If any survivors were there, or if they took out the terminator, it be better if said terminator didn't look like all the rest. Otherwise sooner or later, all the resistances would be like "hey, that guy looks exactly like the guy that assaulted the resistance in Colorado!, the robot human!"

*wonders how fucked the world would be if Cyberdyne had employed Dr. Gero from Dragonball*

That reminds me.. I used to have a T2 trading card as a kid. Don't know where I got it from, and I wish I knew what happened to it.
