Apparently she's in talks to play Cleopatra in a David Fincher biopic. Which, that actually makes sense to me. I don't particularly like her; I've never seen many of her films so I can't judge her acting. But I don't hate her either. I don't think she's the man-stealing she-harpy that some people have made her out to be. And frankly, I don't like Jennifer Aniston either. Too Julia-Roberts-esque plain.

Especially with The Tourist, it was supposed to be this overly awesome, amazing collaberation of two of the "best" actors.
I haven't seen The Tourist, but it sounds like they put all their eggs in their talent basket and forgot to save any for a good director.

I think I would've had a better time in the dentist chair than watch that again.
And speaking of which: I tried to watch "The Kids Are All Right" yesterday on Cinemax On Demand. I saw nothing funny about it and frankly almost fell alseep - it was that boring. If life hands you lemons . . . find someone whose life is handing them vodka . . . and have a party - Ron "Tater Salad" White

I just remembered another movie that I thought was incredibly overrated, speaking of Jolie (not that we got far enough to see her in it)... Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
It was stylized to the point that it had managed to be so artificial as to lose any charm it might have had and came out bland and boring. We tried really hard to watch it, but after 15 minutes of being unable to keep our attention, we shut it off and removed it from our queue.

Which version did you see? With or without the voice-over?
As for what was the point: It raises the question of what does it really mean to be human? And is being born from other humans really a requirement?

For me it would have been Titanic. I enjoyed the movie well enough but I would have enjoyed it more if they had kept some of the scenes with the other ship in the area. It was a second rate love story wrapped into a disaster flick.
I actually went to see Pearl Harbor at the theater because it's a World War II movie and I like World War II movies. And good God......
another one for me was the Thin Red Line. So many people touted it as the anti-Private Ryan....I guess if you meant that it was crappy, I could see that. Some people say I might have to give it another shot though.

Pearl Harbor was awful. No matter what way you looked at it.
Titantic was resoundingly okay. Avatar I enjoyed, just as a fun to watch movie. But it certainly wasn't some sort of groundbreaking epic story wise.
I'm going to toss Monsters on here ( Which got rave reviews at film festivals ). Thought it was going to be this awesome sort of indie movie about Monsters, and it was a god damn awful character drama that urtinated a foul liquid in the face of even basic science. Then the last 20 minutes or so ( Glow in the dark space squid make out session ) were beyond stupid.
I have to agree somewhat with Blade Runner too, actually. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I recall it being somewhat painfully long to sit through.

No, the thing that pissed me off the most about the movie was them using fighter pilots for the Doolittle Raid. The pilots had a hard enough time learning how to get a bomber off a carrier, I couldn't imagine the added headaches of going from flying single engine planes to a double engined plane. the other thing that ticked me off was sending Ben Affleck off to the RAF under a sort of official guise. If I remember correctly, the only official/unofficial thing like that was with the Flying Tigers. If American pilots wanted to join the RAF, they had to do it through Canada and even then there wasn't any guaratees. Seeing how they had Ben Affleck winning the Battle of Britain, Pearl Harbor and flying the Doolittle Raid, why didn't they just say he changed his name to Paul Tibbets as well.
Anyways, as far as Pearl Harbor movies go, Tora! Tora! Tora! will always be the best.
