Cars isn't any more just for kids than Toy Story. Or Tangled, Bolt, The Emperor's New Groove, etc, etc, etc. I love all of those.

Things like Shrek, are aimed slightly higher, but not by much. It got a PG for language, specifically.

When I was a kid, I used to watch them after school. Every time my dad came home early from work, he'd sit and watch them with me and he would laugh harder and more often than I did.

In my parents' house, Saturday is major chore day. We couldn't turn the TV on until we'd finished. So, we got up early and got all the chores done, so Mom and I could watch X-Men. Neither of us liked missing X-Men. After that, we'd flip channels to whatever other cartoon we felt like watching.

If everything Adults do was required to be "intellectually stimulating", I think I'd go bonkers, my brain would have no downtime and I'd just snap.

Sometimes I just want to throw in transformers and watch things go boom! Other times I may catch an episode of Law & order, or murder she wrote, or something on the history channel, or discovery channel, or nat geo. Not all entertainment has to be intellectually stimulating" that's why it's entertainment.

It's like junk food for your brain, yeah sure carrot sticks are good for you and pretty tasty, but every once in a while you just want a bag of Cheetos......

Malarkey and I love watching kiddy movies! As BlaqueKatt said, it's an escape. During the school year, Malarkey and I are intellectually stimulated a lot with classes and homework. It's nice to sit back on a Saturday afternoon in our pjs and watch a kids movie.

Oh, we are also the President and Vice President of the campus anime club. People try telling us that anime is for kids. We tell them to watch Gantz, Elfen Lied, and High School of the Dead. I really don't think that the intended audience for most of the shows we watch at our club is children. We watch stuff that is meant for teenagers and adults.

Different strokes for different folks. Not every piece of entertainment has to provide intellectual stimulation. Many times, I will prefer a show or movie where I can just turn off my brain because I have to use it so much at work.

There are a few cartoons I like, like She-Ra, I bought it on DVD. Invader Zim is another one, though I don't know if that's classified as a kiddie show so much. I'm also a huge fan of X-men, it was what got me into the comics.

When I was younger like 13 - 14 or so I used to watch Blue's Clues and Franklin occasionally.

The idea that all animated shows are for kids is kind of ridiculous when you consider what types of shows are out there. Take a look at Spawn, or The Maxx both shows I watched when I was probably considered too young to be watching them haha.

GIVE ME LOONEY TOONS or give me death.

I still love em. I want super massive explosions, sledgehammer blows to the head, steamroller flattening, cliff falling, boulder shots, a shotgun blast to the Daffey's beak (Rabit Fire IE.Rabbit seasson Duck seasson) and I WANT Wille E Coyote to get splatted.

and I love the more "mature" dialogue (esp when I finally got it)

I still watch them. give me Tinay Toons and Animanics, Thundar, Space Ghost, etc.

Give me a good old Disney full length animated movie. give me the newer CGI stuff (yes I have seen both Kung Foo Pandas Cars, all the Shrek movies etc.)

Dora the explorer IS kiddie stuff, Blue's Clue's IS kiddie stuff

a LOT of anime IS NOT kidde stuff. even the more "milder" stuff like Full Metal Alchemist and Bleach is very bloody and violent with human characters.
I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

I got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the Twilight Zone.

I think that after watching the first episode of Elfen Lied, where several people get torn apart in a matter of minutes, not to mention the nudity, they'd change their mind. XD

I see kid cartoons as brain candy. For example; while I love to read complex books occasionally, like LOTR, I also like to read trashy magazines and red top papers. Sometimes I want to watch grown up stuff; other times, I'll watch She-ra, X-men, Spiderman... or yes, MLP:FiM.
