I regularly enjoy shows, books, movies, etc regardless of the demographic they are aimed for.
For me it's the writing. I was not a stupid kid and I never assumed the kids around me were stupid kids. I understood witty intelligent writing as did many of my peers.
The assumption for many people is that a show aimed at say teens will automatically be dumbed down. With some shows that is the case but it's not limited to teen shows there are adult shows also dumbed down.
Thus I don't watch a show just because it's aimed at my demographic because honestly if it's insulting my intelligence then it doesn't matter what age I am.
But if the writing's good the characters are witty and charming and sound real intelligent, not "Look I can reference some obscure book therefore I must be intelligent but I am really not" intelligent.Jack Faire

At the gym, Hubs and I like to watch "Fairly Oddparents" and "Spongebob" when we're sweating away on the treadmills. What can I say? The news gets bland (and bland isn't what you want when you want your workout to go by quick), and at that hour everything else is infomercials. (It's a 24-hour gym, and we go at odd morning hours.) That, and it's kind of fun to get the jokes that would totally go over a little kid's head.
The other day, another treadmill runner was watching Looney Tunes, so I know we aren't the only ones!

Background:
I am the admin of a 'Anti-Pony" group on FA. The group is laid out in the sense that it is comically evil and not to be taken seriously. Rules have been posted up to state that harrassment of people is not allowed and keep the hate to that page.
Our goal is to draw out both sides of haters and supports and make them look like fools.
End Background.
Recently been dealing with a lot of "Foamies", the term I use for over-aggressive, foaming at the mouth bronies.
Swearing, threats and branding of hate speach has been set on my group by these foamies. I wish I was kidding...
We have so far dealt with about 7 now. Each on has raged heavy and hard on my group. I find this rather entertaining. Course, we don't lash back with hate. We talk to them, explain why we hate/dislike it. But that falls on deaf ears as they unlease another wave of bile on us.
Course... most people in my group have shown to be rather civil. These 'haters' are more 'dislikers' because they are tired of getting harrassed if they so much as say "I don't like horses.". They just want the whole MLP thing to settle down.
Some have even admitted that they would of liked the show if it weren't for the fans.
Good news though:
Some haters and supporters have come to realise what they were doing is wrong and have settled down. No more lashing out at each other, accepting the views of others and generally ignoring the MLP/hater thing.
I'm still have fun though.

I will probably never understand the mentality of anti-anything groups. Unless the activity is harming people..then why does anybody dislike something that much that they will take time out of their day to protest it? Just do not watch/listen/participate/whatever in it. Sort of like the anti-twilight group. I am not a fan of Twilight, but I am not going to spend my time telling people how horrible it is. Let them judge for themselves, I have better things to do.

I remember the "Jihad against Barney" that some people had going years ago. Some of it was just bile spewing, but there was also a lot of creativity, humor, and reason.
I remember some great essays about why the writers felt that Barney was not the best influence on kids- people who had actually seen the shows broke down the messages they sent, in some cases comparing Barney to other children's shows.
One reviewer compared Barney to Sesame street, and the way both shows dealt with various issues. It wasn't a frothing at the mouth "ZOMG Barney sucks and is annoying", it was a well reasoned analysis of both shows, and why the author felt one was better than the other.
I also saw some great fiction, art, and RP inspired by the Jihad against Barney. Some of it was just hilarious, while others were very well done, whether funny or serious in nature.
Edit- Here's the RP stuff: http://www.jihad.net/
And here's the Barney vs Sesame street essay:
