Drug topics? Question for mods.

I posted on another forum about what drugs people like to do while they play world of warcraft. I wasn't suggesting drugs, offering drugs, asking about the best drugs to do, or talking about any information that promoted drugs. It was just a conversation starter.

Anyway my post got deleted pretty quick.

I know all forums are different and all mods are different but really, I feel like I was well within standard protocol for a forum, did I really do anything wrong?

Some forums just might not like threads that encourage drug use.

Yeah but I wasn't encouraging it, per se. Encouraging it would be like "WoWing when you do heroin is the best! Everyone try it!" But just saying "I like to snort a vicodin before raiding" is different right?

It baffles me that anyone would shout out, "Oh, hey, I do this illegal thing when I do this hobby. What all illegal things do you guys do?" on a public forum.

I think that's pretty much it. It's basically encouraging people to confess to crime. *Maybe* nothing would ever come of it, but certainly contributing to such a thread is a foolish thing to do. Were it my board, I'd probably, if not remove the thread entirely, then at least point out that it's a bad idea to answer the question.

Another thing to consider is that the majority of forums I've visited have rules regarding what could be seen as encouragement or condoning of others in the commission of illegal acts. More often than not, there's a blanket rule of, "If it's not legal, don't bring it up."

You're kidding, right?

I've yet to visit a forum I don't own without being advised to read the rules in the sign-up text. I'll usually lurk for a while to get the feel of the place before posting. I'll actually have a read through the rules.

I wouldn't boast about my illegal activities (were I performing any) online, nor would I encourage others to do so either (unless I were in law enforcement to track down stupid criminals).

I don't regard what you did to be within standard protocol.
