I noticed a lot of that in the various muzzle flash threads I was checking out.

Some guns have venting up front, which is fun to see, and others have the ball of heat and gas out the front, and various heat and sparks from further back, depending on the design of the gun. One shot had sparks coming out the back on what was likely and XD40, with another showing sparks out the side of an XD9, just like with that publicity shot. And these are all service revolvers while doing target practice.

Glocks tend to have the venting up front, yar, but it takes a pretty fast camera to catch the flash as its usually too fast for a camera to catch ( Hence you'll likely see the vent flash every few shots in a video ). The vent flash actually looks pretty cool by itself on a Glock. No need for big flashy effects.

But if you see big fancy muzzle flash pr0n ( as GIS likes to call it ) its likely handloaded rounds made for such things. You don't usually get much of a dramatic flash with a pistol. Especially in broad daylight. You certainly wouldn't get that perfect After Effects and/or Photoshop starburst from the chamber me thinks.

Revolvers do give somewhat more impressive flashes ( Albeit still pretty fast to catch on every shot with most cameras ). But numbnuts is holding a Glock in that promo pic.

Seriously though, there's tons of Youtube tutorials on how to create that exact type of muzzle flash digitally. You really think Hollywood resisted sprucing up a promo pic? We're probably lucky that's even his head on his own body. >.>

( On a side note, we discuss the weirdest things on this board )

The actual muzzle flash on a Glock is basically a taco fart compared to that.
Well, here's the appropriate posts from the discussion on Bendis' own message board...

So, unless they have a computer that's so sophisticated, it can add in a digital gun flash in only 10 seconds (or LESS,) this was all in camera. Practical effects.

As I mentioned earlier, I suspect that a lot of it is that they have a bit more powder in the round, and there's no bullet.

Without a projectile to block the expulsion of gases and sparks, it'll travel a lot further from the front of the gun. HERE is a shot of muzzle flash with a blank loaded with some charcoal to get a nice smoke effect for the crowd. You can see the ash from the charcoal through the actual gunpowder flash, but it doesn't add much flash.

And, just for fun, HERE is an interesting muzzle flash from a 357 Magnum round out of a snub nose revolver.

No need for sarcasm. The exact thing you quoted me on is exactly what turned out to have happened. -.-

Practical effects. Aka nice flashy Hollywood blanks. So you just proved my point to, er, myself?
