Those are the people that make us regular geeks get a bad rap.

People see Anime, Sci Fi, etc fan be crazy then if you mention your into that stuff people step back slowly.

For example I love Star Trek it was a great show but I love it no more or no less than I love Will and Grace. I do not know the technical specifications of the Starship Enterprise and I don't dream of the day me and well hell whatever "star babe" there is can be together.

These people need some therapy and some counseling so they can eventually have healthy relationships with real people.

Well, to be honest, having a 31-year-old dating a 17-year-old *would* be kind of creepy, no matter the genders involved. Never mind that the guy looks like he's twelve, so it was good to read that apparently, they're not a couple. Not that I'd blame the kid, personally...

Still, claiming some random "celebrity" as boy- or girlfriend is mind-bogglingly stupid, no questions asked. There was something similar in Germany, years ago, surrounding a male model / wannabe-actor named Ralf Bauer. When he announced that he and (some female model) were a couple, his fan club (composed entirely of women) actually issued a statement that he had no right to be in a relationship, since he "owed it" to his fans to remain unattached and "available".
