Theoretically, mpreg is possible for humans-- it's just so highly unethical to try it that nobody has. There was a great article in The Stranger about the possibility of successful male pregnancy in the future. In Vitro fertilization, implanted into the abdominal cavity, and C-section later; it'd essentially be an ectopic pregnancy.
My fanfic tastes generally run toward the bizarre (though not Mpreg... more like unlikely slash pairings, dubious consent, etc.)-- I think mainly because it's a temporary mental escape from reality, not serious literature in my opinion. I like fanfic that depicts things that are certainly wrong and would not appeal to me in the slightest in real life, because what the heck, it's fanfiction, not an Owner's Manual for Life!

I've seen some very odd pairings in "innocent" genres like TMNT...
I spend most of my time reading Pern fanfic, so greenriders being greenriders doesn't really phase me a bit. They did it in canon novels so what's going to stop greens from flying and blues from chasing in fanfic?
Other than that....Loveless, nuff said, keep it TASTEFUL, and Valdemar...with Vanyel as a hero... again, nuff said.Bartle Test Results: E.S.A.K.

Finding Nemo slash... I wish I were joking.
Fanfic in general I am very much a one fandom girl (Nsync) and I have seen some of the best and worst things ever written. Name it, it's in the fandom (rapefic, incest, mpreg, orgys etc..)
And the only thing that ever disturbed me in the fandom was a story I read about how Justin was trying to find a way to make a blow-up doll look like his mom, and that was because it was well written and realistic.
As for why with slash? I like slash because it is an equivalent to guys liking lesbian porn for me. Also it was really hard to come across any Mary/Gary stories especially in a fandom where why would one of them choose outside the group when they have 4 other guys?

I am weak.
I have done what I swore I'd never do.
I.... *teardrop*
Wrote a fanfic.
Turns out it's a great cure for writer's block, and I have no idea why I didn't try it before! I don't have to muck around with creating characters or backstory or settings, I can just write for an hour or so and get warmed up before moving on to what I was having trouble with.
Mine's G-rated so far, though. I'm staying firmly within my comfort zone, thank you very much, at least until I get a little more comfortable with using someone else's characters!
On topic:
I nominate for scariest fandom... Teen Titans. There's the underage thing, plus Beast Boy, not to mention Starfire and her metamorphosis thing... YIPE.
I also recently found a pretty terrifying political fanfic. I couldn't finish it. Too squicked. It was about the candidates in the 2008 presidential primaries being warped back to high school, on prom night.
YEAUGH!

It is pretty damn useful for getting through blocks. Granted, I haven't tried to write anything original in a while, but fanfic helps me keep sharp for when I do come up with an idea to write about that doesn't sound like everything else on Earth. I'm batting around two ideas at the moment, my wrestling fic already on FF.net, and in the planning stages of rewriting Chrono Trigger as a fic with wrestlers in the slots just for shits and giggles. (Dave Batista still living with his mom is humorous, I don't care who you are.)

Worst fic; Celebrian. Tho, I have read some pretty nasty HP rapefic written by a guy with an obviously diseased mind. -.- As well as some horrible slash that seemingly recreates the Mr Hands story... O.o I weep for humanity, I really do."Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

That sounds fantastically hilarious, except in every possible wrong way there is.
....
It was funny in parts. Notably, Bill Clinton's role amused me, as did Hillary and Michelle Obama cast as BFFs... but mostly, if was horrifically disturbing!

Oy HP... What paring HAVEN'T they done with that series?
On a lark once I looked up Hermione / Dumbledore and found ... yeah. Someone went there.
I'm not much into reading the slash myself... maybe a story once in a while, though I have seen some regular stories with slash couples in the background. Harry/Draco seems to be a popular one.
Then again, come to think of it, Dumbledore himself was homosexual. Not mentioned in the series, but JK Rowling did make a public statement about it.
Though I'm reminded of a gal I knew at work. She was always - and I mean always - telling us about the Yaoi stories she was writing. To the point that I sometimes went out of my way to avoid her. Not that I disliked the topic of fanfic or slashfic but... It was always a series I knew nothing about, aside from one story featuring people from Rent. (and I never saw Rent). So it was always a bunch of hand written stories that didn't actually interest me. And always 100% slash - both gay and lesbian.
So, not only did it get old, fast... but when she confessed that she was bi... Well, I didn't say it but... yeah I kinda already knew.
as for my own fanfics, ... can't really say my pairings are popular... I tend to swing towards older man / younger (but legal) girl. Like Wolverine/Rogue. But I haven't done any slash yet.Last edited by PepperElf; 01-23-2009, 05:40 PM.

With the Buffy series, I can see slash with Spike and Angel, since they are vampires and vampires have a whole level of kink to them. Though it depends on how the story is written. If Spike is a total wimp and Angel(us) is a total control freak, then it's crap.
Also, with vampires, you can have weird rape stories. Say, we know Angelus drove Dru insane when she was human. We also knows she worships him as Angelus (but as Angel she has no problem killing him). So if a fic is written of her as human/newly-risen vamp being raped by Angelus and loves him, it's based on canon (well, we only know Angelus made her insane, not if he raped her), that's ok. Also, their vampires. Chains are probably involved in foreplay anyway.
Also, in one ep (Lovers Walk) Spike says he's going to torture Dru until she loves him again. Since they are vampires, I can see that.
Vampires can have the kinks, the disgusting habits, the superstregnth, etc, that humans can't have and so they can do stuff humans don't normally do and seem alright.
Though there are the stories where Buffy/Willow/Cordy/Faith get raped that I don't like.
I try not to read HP, though I did come across one fic where Herm. gets raped (luckily it's behind the scenes) by I think Draco, and Snape takes care of her and they fall in love...and it was barfworthy. Herm. needs to be healed by someone who loves her.
Talking about MPreg, I remember the tv show, Alienation, where one male alien char. is pregnant for a while. I figure it's for the hijinks, but MPreg is just odd.

I'm still wondering whether I should be surprised or not that such stuff exists."Any state, any entity, any ideology which fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."
