The Sonic fandom brings out some pretty bad stuff, too. It makes me very worried that a lot of the really awful fanfic comes from children's stories and computer games.

I've read a couple hetfics where the author doesn't even realize she's committing incest (typically the Mary Sue in question is somehow related to one of the main characters and the timeline/plot is so convoluted even the Suethor gets confused). Slash incest that doesn't involve a Stu is ruled out by definition...although at times I would like to see someone try just to see what kind of AU they come up with that allows that.

That is sometimes "rectified" by having the Sue be related to someone else's original character...which is almost as bad but at least it's more easily detectable. When the other author finds out, things can get interesting.

Reminds me of My Immortal; where Tara wants to be related to Gerard Way cuz he's hot. XD

I think all Suethors start out being related to one/all of the main characters. The distinction is which ones actually learn from their mistakes.
