"I'm sorta holding my nose for two years. What we're doing here is going to be a big benefit to Rand in '16."

Sen. Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign manager Jesse Benton

Now that's enough incentive to vote for someone else.

"Absolutely 100% all of it is fraud."

Rep. Markwayne Mullin on food stamps

He has no proof of it, but he believes it so therefore it must be true!

I get the strangest feeling that any lawyers that become politicians at this point are the ones who flunked their ethics exams.

Someone is either lying or has no concept of what "fraud" means.

He probably thinks "fraud" means "help people in dire straights".

"I think that imposing fines on gays for homosexual propaganda among teenagers is not enough. They should be banned from donating blood, sperm. And their hearts, in case of the automobile accident, should be buried in the ground or burned as unsuitable for the continuation of life."

Dmitri Kisilev, Deputy General Director of the Russian State Television and Broadcasting Company

You know what the worst part about this quote is? When I started to read it I thought it was coming from a Republican in the Deep South. I doubt I would have been wrong in that assumption either.

"Don't use the term the other side uses. Who does Barack Obama talk about all the time? The middle class. Since when in America do we have classes? Since when in America are people stuck in areas or defined places called a class? That's Marxism talk."

              Rick Santorum

Hoo boy. Where do I start? Eh, I'll just say that there is a reason Jon Stewart defined the term "Santorum" as synonymous with "shit".

That's much better than what Dan Savage defined it as.

"[We] have Muslim Brotherhood affiliated groups and individuals infiltrated into this current Obama administration. This is serious."

                  —former Rep. Allen West

I'd be surprised but just googling the name brings up "bat-shit insane" quotes lists. I get the oddest feeling that he's a "former" rep is because every time he opened his mouth the GOP at large went " oh god the black guy's gonna embarrass us again..."

"I will bet you, for most of you, you go home in the next two weeks when your members of Congress are home, and you look them in the eye and you say, 'What is your positive replacement for Obamacare?' They will have zero answer."

Newt Gingrich to Republican National Committee meeting

Say what you will about him (and I can think of more than a few choice words), he has a point. The republican led congress has been so intent on shutting down anything this presidency has been trying to do that they don't have anything positive themselves.

good point. No matter what your opinion on the ACA, there have been no suggestions on what to replace it with if you repeal it. The current system is ridiculous, with many people facing bankruptcy if they have healthcare trouble, so...

"I can't wait to write a defense of the drone strike that takes out Julian Assange."

Time reporter Michael Grunwald, in a tweet

Regardless of who or what, being enthusiastic to write an article defending killing is in my mind wrong.

Oh? what about if it had been a drone strike that killed Osama Bin Laden?

(side note- I agree that Assange hasn't done anything serious enough to warrant a drone strike. I just think that it is possible top defend a drone strike against certain targets. Juts check what is at the target first, please.)

It's the enthusiasm that's bothering me, not necessarily the action. Even if it's dripping in sarcasm it's still unnerving that he would be looking forward to it.

Eh, not much to say about this one. Joslyn James (Tiger Woods former mistress) has done the same.

"In that paper of Aug. 29, 1963, The Post published two dozen stories about the march. Every one missed the importance of King's address. The words 'I have a dream' appeared in only one, a wrap-up of the day's rhetoric on Page A15 -- in the fifth paragraph."

former managing editor Robert G. Kaiser, in an Op Ed about the WaPo blowing its coverage of the March on Washington

Now this one's interesting. Given the attitudes at the time not terribly surprising but interesting nonetheless. Particularly that when MLK was murdered Washington was one of the few places that wasn't being destroyed with riots due to how much respect Kennedy had for the man and called for peace.
