  • Ben Affleck is the (spoiler alert)

    new Batman.

    http://movies.yahoo.com/news/ben-aff...011113178.html

No. Nope. I'm out. I, now, no longer have any vested interest in the upcoming move.

I mean, seriously?? Is this some sort of joke? Is it possible that news services were hacked? Please?

If not, well, clearly we are approaching the end of days.

What the hell was wrong with Bale?

Considering how often I hear about how an actor did a surprisingly good job in the role they played...I'm not going to take that narrow view of things. I've seen Affleck do well in some roles, and I've seen him tank in others.

Granted Daredevil tanked, but was that because of the actor, or was that because of the writing and the directing? I honestly can't say for certain because Daredevil came out at the end of that era where no one treated comic book movies with any real dignity.

Seriously? Bat-Suits with nipples? What they did with Steel? <shudder>

So I'm actually going to reserve judgement until I can see the movie for itself. Granted if it doesn't look promising I might wait to catch it in the Drive-In where I can watch three movies for $10, but I'm still going to hold my opinions until I know what is in store.

Besides, with the exception of the recent three Batman movies, DC's track record is less than stellar of late with their films. Certainly nowhere near Marvel's works. It's more likely that the movie will tank regardless of who you got for the actors just because the writers and the directors for some reason love to piss on the comic book superheros.

      <cough>Green Lantern<cough>

It is what it is. It's news released by the film production company as an official announcement. The fact that the news is not what you want to hear doesn't mean that the news is somehow falsified or "hacked".

If not, well, clearly we are approaching the end of days.
So the end of days is being foretold by a movie that hasn't been released yet the famine, poverty, war, global climate change, natural disasters, death, disease and the Ice Capades...

...none of these is an indication of the End Times? Interesting.
“There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do.” - Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.

the only part that annoys the hell outta me about people getting upset over this is that IT'S NOT A BATMAN MOVIE!
he's being batman in the next superman movie, probably to prepare for a full crossover in another film later. he might only get ten minutes of screen time for all anyone knows!
ben affleck does good when he's in darker roles and films, and warner knows that if they want to compete against the marvel 'verse they need to start working on crossing the films around a bit before jumping into Justice League. they are gonna do their damndest not to fuck it up, and they wouldn't have picked the role lightly.

oh and daredevil was just a shitty script. you can see everyone struggling with it. you coulda dragged the real daredevil outta the 'verse and he woulda sucked at that role.

Two words: Batman Voice. (I did like Bale as Batman, but that voice was the butt of many jokes.)

In all seriousness, I don't think Affleck is that bad. He was pretty good in Argo.

            .
Um, no, this is Batman Vs Superman that's the basis of the movie ( Its even one of the possible movie titles being discussed ). The sequel is inspired by The Dark Knight Returns comic. Which means an older, wiser Batman vs Superman. With Batman being framed for murder and Superman being the one that has to bring him in.

So if Affleck is Batman, Affleck IS Batman and will be Batman for the Justice League movie after Man of Steel 2.

I am not a huge Batman fan (Kate Kane is my girl) but I don't think Affleck was a great Daredevil, and I don't think he'll be a great Batman. I was disgusted by what I read about the new Superman movie (particularly a review by Mark Waid, a damn good Superman writer) so have zero interest in this movie or any JLA movie that might be in the works.

Bale was OK but my favorite Batman ever is Michael Keaton. And I know it's blasphemy but my favorite Joker is Jack Nicholson.

Mine too, Heath had some good scenes but both were different styles, Nolans Batman was more grounded, Burtons a bit over the top and in the comic/superhero genre, but "Bob gun" is a better scene than say the disappearing pencil trick, it was unexpected.

that makes more sense as to people being irked, though there are farrr worse choices than affleck.

but, if he sucks at it, they will switch him out on the next film for another actor without a second thought. it's not like it will kill the batman franchise forever if he tanks it. it survived the batman and robin film, it can survive anything.

Like Bond, the Batman franchise doesn't need the actor as much as the actor needs the role.

In fairness, Batman & Robin was so awful it killed the movie franchise for 8 years before they dared make another. -.-

eh, there were around 6 or more animated films (including the Subzero mr freeze one i looove), the animated series and the beyond series between the B&R movie and the dark knight arc. plus the comics and etc and batman's not really a franchise to worry over.
