Affleck is a better writer/director than he is an actor, but that said I can completely see it. But then I also love Keaton (extremely underrated) as Batman so there you go. I'll also particularly enjoy the fact Affleck's accent won't break up when he gets screamy if he has to get screamy.

They were writing it as the next movie after Batman & Robin, but ended up just shelving Batman period for 8 years after how badly Batman & Robin did. Though it sounds like they're considering reviving it again for the next real Batman movie in 2015.

i just remembered something else.
people swore up and down that heath ledger would ruin the joker.
and that anne hathaway was going to be a worse catwoman than the 2004 film.
that fucking around with bane would ruin Rises (which for me it did but others loved the changes)
that changing katie holmes for maggie gyllenhaal was the worst thing ever
every time a batman is announced or made people will freak over the slightest thing in casting because they're worried about another batman and robin.
but batman and robin, as well as the other batman films in that arch, were done with increasing levels of camp as time went on. between the bad casting and terrible script full of puns and stupidity, that movie was doomed. (frankly mr. freeze and poison ivy fucking sucked in that film, and the villains are what carry a batman movie)
now they are doing an arch in both superman and the finished batman series that are more dramatic and dark. and as much as ben affleck is a doofus in a comedy (and were this the previous batman arch i would consider the fears justified) he does well in dramas. All uses of You, You're, and etc are generic unless specified otherwise.

I think Batman was my first ever Leger film*, had nothing to base my opinions on, all I knew of him was he was dead and when they said he was dead I was all "Who? and should I care?" it was a bit after that they said he was the joker in the then unreleased movie, else I wouldn't even have known it was him and that he was dead.
*or at least top billing, I might have seen some of his earlier work as 3rd guy from the left.

Looks like its confirmed that Affleck is signed for multiple films now. So he is Batman for the foreseeable future both in this, Justice League and any new Batman movies.

Anne Hathaway was alright as Catwoman I guess. But she just sort of felt...there in the movie. Niether good nor bad, just there. With a silly motivation for a Macguffin and ultimately a tool for deus ex machina.
And Bane.....yeah. Bane I couldn't take seriously. I get what Nolan was trying to do with him, but much like Nolan's Batman, the voice just makes it silly. Then once you realize its Shinzon from Star Trek Nemesis its all over -.-
Ultimately, the third film was kind of a slog to get through when I watched it.
