Rainbows must be Jew distress beacons, otherwise they'd be prepared to defend their gold when you got to the end.

      News to me.

As far as I know, I thought Catholicism was passed through whichever parent is Catholic, regardless of their gender.

The Catholic Church requires that, if one partner is a non-Catholic, they convert to Catholicism, but if they don't, they must agree to have their children baptized in the Catholic Church and raise them as Catholic.

I don't see that as matrilineal.
      Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

My husband is Episcopalian (Catholic Lite ) and I'm Roman Catholic.

The priest had no problem baptizing Child Rum as Catholic because we both were fine with it. (Mr. Rum is agnostic and doesn't care one way or the other about religion, but he saw that it was important to me, so he went ahead and said "yes").

As I understand it, Catholicism isn't passed on through either. If you're baptized Catholic, you're Catholic; if not, then not. And if not, you need to *be* baptized Catholic; unlike most other denominations, they don't take transfers.

(Which reminds me of an odd, if irrelevant, fact: the baptismal font of the local Presbyterian church has a slip of paper inside, which warns never to leave water in it.)

They see me Jewin'. They hatin'...

Sorry. That just came into my head as I read the thread.

I dunno. I think it's just kind of weird to ask people you don't know to pray with you. Why would anyone just assume that someone is the same religion? If someone asked me, I would politely decline, but why would someone do that in the first place?

Tribalism. They want the security of knowing that people around them are of their tribe or social grouping.

Of course, if a tribe gets big enough you find that they have sub tribes or groups within it. Only way to keep them going in the same direction is to give them a common enemy. Human nature. It sucks.

Look at it as an ethnic group. A subset of the Semites. And then there's the smaller subset of Ashkenazi Jews that you see the results of the founder effect and genetic drift.

The only thing I can think of for "Yoshi Catapult" is Yom Kippur (SP?)

                            Just a guess, though.

I originally included that line in my post, too, but I deleted it to see how long it would take... Not disappointed.
