Wouldn't have a clue, to be honest; I just find it funny that on hearing that my father's Jewish, a lot of people then say, "Well, that means that you're Jewish too"; regardless of what religion I was raised on (ie, Church of England, which is my mother's religion) or actually practice (which is nothing; I'm an atheist). I had no idea that it was an inherited thing, passed thru the genes like hair and eye colour. xD

It is matrilineal in the Jewish faith.

When I was talking marriage with an ex-boyfriend who was Jewish, he said I'd have to convert to the Jewish faith so our children would be Jewish. If we had married, and I had stayed Roman Catholic, our children would have been Roman Catholic.

The thing some people fail to realize is that the jews have been dispersed so many times through history that at this point, I don't think any follower of the faith can trace their lineage back to the twelve original tribes. They've interbred in the areas they settled in, so it's actually tough to say what 'jewish' really looks like.
