Slightly OT, but the reason Baptists don't have their beliefs explained so thoroughly (and I'm only speaking for American Baptists, to which I belong, not Southern Baptists, who have a different view on the matter) is that the Baptist version of Christianity is about the belief that everyone can interpret Scripture for themselves. This leads to a very congregational church system, where the American Baptist Convention exists more as a meeting place than a government, quite unlike the Lutheran Synods or Catholic hierarchy.

Granted, this also means that when I move, I'll have to try out the church individually instead of relying on "They're an X, so they believe Y" (even though you should always try out the church because they might have a priest you don't like, or be a bit too closed of a community).

Back to the topic, while I don't like the RCC's view on ordination of females, they do have a Scriptural justification in Paul's letters (beliefs about Paul being a misogynistic, holier-than-thou jackass notwithstanding). Granted, I grew up in a church that had no issues with ordination of females or church leadership by them, so that could easily affect my view on it, as I never automatically equated "reverend" and "male".

A truer statement has never been spoken about any religion.

Wonder what people make of "as American as apple pie" too.

Frankly, I think Catholicism is full of outdated beliefs about the role of women, as well as about a lot of other things, but that's just me. (I'm sure someone's going to ask what I'd think if someone said that about my faith, and frankly it wouldn't bother me. Just to head that question off.)
Christianity had no problem with women being seen as equals....until the Romans and their patriarchal society got hold of it.

Jesus consistently treated men and women as equals. He taught women. Which, seeing as how extremely patriarchal Judaisms was at the time, was pretty much heresy.

      Sorry, couldn't resist.
Hey, I keep calling him "Benedictine".

Benedictine is the religious order that the saint (whom His Holiness took namesake) founded.

Another reason why I think Catholicism is such a corrupt religion and I do not practice it.

              Now that was funny.

I'm thinking she was possibly referring to the topic of the thread.
              Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

Well, we've seen time and again how certain people within various religions twist the bits they like and ignore the parts they don't as an excuse to be bullies to the nth degree.

The most vocal among Bible-based religions are more about the Bible than Jesus, anyway. Listen to Paul instead of the purported Messiah, etc. Someone who isn't a deity said NO WIMMIN IN THE CHURCH UPPERCLASSES, so that must be true since it made the cut. We'll just ignore everything Jesus did in regards to said wimmins.
