  • Spiritual Belief Quiz

Normally I would have posted this sort of thing over at CS. But given the nature of the quiz and the discussion it could generate, I thought it best to post it here instead.

    Spiritual Belief Selector Quiz

What is your true spiritual path? Take this quiz to find out.

"IMPOSSIBLE!" you say. How could a simple quiz that includes just over 2 dozen belief systems possibly work for everyone? Well, given that there are thousands of nuanced religions and faith groups and countless individual beliefs, you are right - it is impossible. That said, we took our research for this selector seriously and strived to be as accurate as possible. Most visitors have found it fun, informative and often surprisingly revealing. (Note: When doctrine wasn't available, we looked at the predominant views of the belief system's adherents.)

100% non-secular humanism, whatever the fuck that is as well as 90% universalism and other similar sounding stuff. Anything even remotely religious was pretty low, but I don't feel like taking the quiz again to get the exact numbers (damn you firefox!)

Still, it's pretty nifty, if not predictable.

Huh, not really surprised with the result. I think it accurately reflects that there's not much difference between Holy Mother Church and the Eastern Orthodox. I dunno how I'm 48% neo-pagan, though? And what the hell is Jainism?

Nothing Terribly surprising here, though I don't entirely consider myself neo-pagan, partially maybe, but they don't have a listing for my Faith so it's the closest anyhow.

This is a tough test to take, in some respects. The very first question, for example: it matters to me very little whether God has a physical body or not, but that he exists and that there's only one of him is essential; yet it requires you to include the importance of all that into a single "high-medium-low" scale. Similarly, I suspect there is no real difference between the first two positions of #4: unless eternity is merely an infinite extension of time (and I see no reason to think so), the difference between being judged immediately after death, or being unconscious until the end and then being raised and judged, is meaningless... and there's not that much different between the ideas of a new, paradisiacal earth and heaven. And so on, and so on....

                            Anyway, results:
                            1. Mainline - Liberal Christian Protestants 100%
                            2. Mainline - Conservative Christian Protestant 98%
                            3. Orthodox Quaker - Religious Society of Friends 98% (a bit surprising)
                            4. Liberal Quakers - Religious Society of Friends 95%
                            5. Reform Judaism 91%
                            6. Seventh Day Adventist 86%
                            7. Eastern Orthodox - 85%
                            8. Roman Catholic 85%
                            9. Bahai 73% (never heard of this one)
                            10. Orthodox Judaism 73%

                            16. Scientology 50% (them's fightin' words! Though, on second thought, by whatever scale they're using anything this far down or lower isn't a close enough match to worry over)
                            17. New Thought 47%
                            18. New Age 46%

No surprise that I came out 100% neo-pagan! And I find it hilarious that I'm more likely to be an atheist than a Jehovah's Witness!
