Swinger club reborn as a church

Only in Tennessee......
I'm not very keen on this swingers club being near a school, but the way the neighborhood association is just up and changing zoning laws seems a bit underhanded. I think both sides suck on this one.
However, I would like to know why people are so bent on legislating the when, whom, and how of sex? Shouldn't sex be a private matter between consenting adults?

honestly, as long as the swingers club don't meet during actual school hours, I fail to see the problem. (and them not meeting during actual school hours is more to avoid kids trying to sneak out to the place than anything)
not to mention that it sounds to me like any actual sex happens upstairs- so even IF kids were in the club area downstairs, it is exactly ie any other club. (which also answers the point about kids asking questions- it sounds like the kids are old enough that parents really should be talking about sex anyway. )

This is pearl-clutching nimby-ism, pure and simple.
The fact that these people have sex and talk about it with other people is just so alien to these people that they have to fight it tooth and nail lest something they don't really even know is happening might spatter a bit fo shame on them.
I love that they threw in a 'think of the children' while they were at it. Honestly, the children would never have known what that building was if it wasn't for the people fighting against it being there. >_>Faith is about what you do. Not only have they given the club free publicity; they've told their children (whom they claim they want to protect from the 'evilness' of this club) about this club. Even if they didn't speak directly to their kids, I'm sure these children have overheard their parents talking about it, and now this building that probably they had 0 interest in is now something they are VERY interested in. Sure, eventually the kids would have figured it out, but these parents have made it a lot easier and a lot more enticing for their children to go check this out.
Also, while I've never visited a club like this (and never will), I would assume it isn't the type of club where you can just walk into them without showing some proof of membership. So, it wouldn't be so easy for these kids to get into the building and be able to even watch the club activities, much less participate. So, who cares what is happening in the building. I'm sure they don't have picture windows so people driving by can get a quick show in at the same time.
