Feds teach people how to shop for food

    in some ways, the attitude is that the government as a duty to protect it's citizens- the attitude is that there is no qualification "from other governments"- though there are limits (IOW, the government should help ensure a level playing field- so that, for example, your employer can't demand you beg them for your paycheck for work already done- and helps you recover from a disastrous situation. They will not protect you from all the consequences- but if it's someone else's fault, they will force said person to make the situation right.)

    plus, this site is more giving out tips on how to avoid wasting food.

      You're all assuming that the students here have had an upbringing as privileged as your own -- money to buy a chosen selection of food, parents in the house with enough time to take the kids shopping and show them how it's done, parents who themselves have shopping skills... so if the kids never learned, the parents must have spoiled them.

      Abject poverty erodes people's life, and one side-effect of that is that kids don't get "normal" life-skills while growing up, because the parents don't have time or resources to model them.
