I don't want to turn this into a debate on guns, but the point was that restrictions on gun ownership both have a legitimate public policy interest, and are the least intrusive way of doing things. ( basically, any restriction on a constitutional right is only constitutional if it is the minimum nessecary restriction on the right.)
