Ironically, the shooter's death by grenade robot actually PROVES there's a problem with police overreach. Three others who targeted police weren't summarily executed, without trial with a POUND of C4.
Not sure I'd buy that. From the same article you referenced, this was still an active shooting situation. Given the circumstances, a sniper would have been authorized to shoot to stop it by almost any police force I can think of. So it's ultimately a different delivery vehicle for the same result.

There's definitely a question here about militarization, but ultimately if citizens keep arming themselves like there's a war to fight I don't think you can realistically expect officers of the peace to completely lack tools to counter it. Honestly, it's sort of continuous escalation at this point.

Wait, are you saying civilians maybe shouldn't be able to easily arm themselves like they're being deployed in a warzone? So that peace officers don't have to fight against military grade weapons and armour?

      Now that's just crazy talk.

I'm in two minds. Yes, lethal force probably was necessary to stop the guy, but the problem is that as methods of killing people get more remote, it gets easier and easier for someone to decide to do it- eventually, it can get to the point where lethal force is used more for convenience than due to it being strictly necessary. Yes,a sniper would probably have been authorised to use lethal force. That doesn't mean using a bomb was necessarily a good idea.

          It's:

"On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the Constitution, my community, and the agency I serve."
Well I did say I was paraphrasing. And it does indeed include the "public trust", the community would be the "innocent" and the Constitution of course is (quoting Article VI) the Supreme Law of the Land.

          So yeah, close enough.

And this is how ALL law enforcement people should be.

Gravekeeper, from the photo you posted it's clear that Canadian police need to be issued upgraded weapons. Taking fire from a Super Soaker, and having only a water bottle with which to return fire?
