    Shooting at National Holocaust Museum

The guy supposedly started shooting as soon as he got into the museum. There are guards inside and out. There is a metal detector too.

I've been there several times. Wonderful museum. Fascinating.

The guy also is alleged to have ties to an hate group.

ETA: Shooting suspect is named and turns out to be 88 years old, he has a history of violence and lots of racial hatred.

Yeah, at least there were metal detectors (ergo no legal concealed carry) AND armed guards.

I can only hope that the family of the guard who died is proud that he/she saved lives in doing so, they have my sympathy and prayers.

I read he was also a Holocaust denier.

What I heard in bits and pieces on CNN is that he was, and I'm not quoting here, a lunatic white supremacist fuckface. That was the gist. Actually, Wolf Blitzer was stopping other correspondents from reading excerpts from the guys website. He obviously did this for attention, so don't give it to him. No reason to spread his filth and hate all over television. One person brought up the fact that in some parts of Europe, it's illegal to say that the Holocaust did not happen. It's an interesting debate...

We might have to worry about further clusters of such psychos acting out. When the hate filled get old, they often want to go out in a blaze of "glory" for their cause.

I have to laugh at that.

In all seriousness I can't understand the need to do this. I really can't. Are people that insecure about themselves that they have to hate someone else because of skin color or religion?

I only mentioned that it was reported that he was an Holocaust denier. I didn't read it in the article provided and thought is would explain why he went after the museum. He didn't even get that far in the door to get to the metal detectors. It has been on the news that hate groups are on the rise. The are currently feeding on fear of black president and the downfall of the economy.

Unfortunately, yes. And they teach their children the same attitudes, and the whole ugly cycle continues on.

:sigh: That's so disgusting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we were living in the twenty-first century? We should have learned from our past by now. Yet we do not. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." -- George Santayana

XCashier - but you're forgetting one thing:

These people are remembering the past. The past where the White Man was in charge and making all the decisions and everyone was scared of him and deffered to him at all times.

                (*is being cynical right now*)
