Nope, Broom. You didn't. And of course, you're right. As usual.

    Yes, that too. Poor Flyn.

Hey. I may misunderstand but I don't take words out of context as I see them. Okay, I may misunderstand quite often.

        MOD HAT ON:
Careful, you're skirting personal attack territory. I don't see anyone having done that to you. Pointing out trends in posting styles doesn't count.

        MOD HAT OFF.

Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.

Actually, there are some decent cops out there who will believe the man.

It helps if he's profusely bleeding from the head, though.

True story. My boyfriend's last girlfriend was absolutely psychotic. She is smaller than me, about 5'0 and maybe 100 lbs. He is 6'0 and 200 lbs of pure muscle, built like a UFC fighter. And because he was raised to never hit girls, she beat on him whenever she was drunk or angry (granted, this one incident was the only time she ever actually hurt him) and all he could do was try to push her away or fling her off of him.

This incident, he came home, she was drunk and mad that he went out without her, and she flung an ashtray at his head, then proceeded to call the cops and say that he beat her up.

The cops got to their house, and saw the blood gushing from his head, and arrested her.

Agreed. Which I've stated a time or twelve in this thread.

but if both are bleeding, quite often police will believe that the man instigated it and the woman was defending herself, even if it's the other way around.

it happened to a friend; his girlfriend got pissed at him and hit him in the face with a bottle and broke his jaw. she had bruises on her arms from where he was trying to hold her off to keep her from hitting him again.

guess which one got taken in for domestic assault?

And that absolutely SUCKS, Linguist. I completely agree. How did it turn out for your friend, if I may ask?

I think the difference, in this case, is that (from what I've heard) Chris Brown didn't have a scratch on him. Your friend was obviously injured.

From what I have read, and I'm QUITE SURE someone will correct me if I'm wrong (), she got mad at him about a text from an old GF, and he went off on her and beat the hell out of her.

eventually she recanted and the charges were dropped, but not before he spent a day in jail (almost losing his job because they considered it a no call no show) and got kicked out of his apartment. he had to sue her for his medical bills, and to my understanding still hasn't seen a dime.

That's disgusting. She should have been brought up on criminal charges, not just civil.

One person's word against another's rarely works even when its women against men. There is simply little to no chance a woman could get convicted in such a situation.

Really? For breaking a man's jaw? Interesting.

While oftentimes true, I really wouldn't set that in stone.

With what my bf's ex did to him, the responding officers personally remembered arresting her for assaulting someone at a bar before (of course, good memory helps), and digging back into her records, finding her to be a habitual offender when it came to battery and assault.

Maybe in recent time in some places sexual equality has made strides without me noticing.
I've just known too many males abused by females that weren't believed.

But the problem with that, blas, is that situations like that are still by far in the minority.
