  • Schools bar parents from sports day in order to keep out pedophiles

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...edophiles.html

Lolwut? Honestly, this is getting ridiculous. It's like people think that there are pedophiles round every corner and on every street. If that were the case, then it wouldn't be news every time one was caught.

I like the bit about 'unsupervised adults'.

I think that ego-centric, self righteous idiots managing schools are only half to blame. The other half is with all the parents who decide to sue the school for millions when some creep tries or succeeds to snatch their kid.

I'm all for justice, but blaming the school for the actions of some random creep is ridiculous. Which in turn helps prompt ridiculous actions from the schools trying to cover their asses.

I'm not going to bother calculating the odds, but I'm dead certain that the likelihood of a child becoming seriously injured participating in the actual sports events is about a million times greater than the odds of one being injured by a pedophile.

Obviously, the school must cancel the sports day altogether and commence teaching in padded rooms without pencils.

This is risk management gone mad.

We wonder why our children are growing up all fucked, and why no one has any sense of personal responsibility.

Seriously, wtf? What happened to just teaching your kids not to walk off with a stranger? What about simple security measures like, handing out passes. Or having code-words for pick up time? What about the teachers that have to be supervising this event? I mean, how easily can a kid go missing when there are a ton of teachers around, they are scheduled to do certain events at certain times, etc?

The schools should have boycotted. How disappointing for a child not have their parent cheering for them if that is what they wanted!

and without adult teachers, 'cause they could be pedophiles, too. oh, and felt-tipped markers instead of pencils, 'cause they're less stabby-stabby

Except you can get high off the markers. So you can't use those. Looks like we're going for those big, novelty foam-covered pens.

They still have pointy bits; so kids could use them to stab. Guess it's chalk and crayons.

Spoken like someone who's never sharpened chalk. Looks like instead of low tech, we'll have to go high. Touch screens embedded in to the desks, desks bolted to the floors.

Or voice activated screens, with all the kids wearing straitjackets in a room with padded walls.
