I dunno, man, do a google search on "vitamin D deficiency symptoms". Apparently, if I understand it right, proper dosages of the stuff is pretty high, and gets higher as you get older. And symptoms of a deficiency are subtle. If you haven't been tested, you wouldn't know for sure.

I mean, I don't mean to mind your business here, but you did mention you had some health problems. I don't know exactly what they are, and it's not my business anyways. Just check it out at least.

"Persistent skeletomuscular pain"? Hmm. I might actually have a deficiency. I don't go out in the sun much, and I don't pay particular attention to my vitamin intakes. I'm gonna need to try a multivitamin again, only try higher doses.

See? I was rather suprised. I do not have any of these symptoms, but I know a lot of folks who do.

I dunno, find a good vitamin, I guess, if you don't want to go the sunshine route. I don't have a lot of faith in artificial vitamins. Your mileage may vary.

There's no way I could have this deficiency. I'm outside way too much.

All of my problems are from the neck up. I'm much stronger and healthier than I have any right.

I know that I get very little sun and don't get symptoms of deficiency.

Oh, yeah, I don't actively hide from the sun. I am a Leo after all, and Mr. Sun has a definite affect on my levels of happiness. I just don't go out and bask in it, and my bedroom has dark curtains on the window (faces east) so that I can sleep longer. And, really, I couldn't tan if I tried. Just will not happen. Eh.

I take a multi-vitamin...and fish oil and extra vitamin E. I think a vitamin is always a good idea, especially if you have a day like mine and you eat hot dogs and German Chocolate cake all day. oops.

Sunshine causes me some pretty brutal headaches and causes my arms to look like they're about to spontaneously burst in to bloody messes. If you look closely, you can even see the red tracer lines of capillaries.

I had never heard of that sun poisoning dermalogical issue before. But now that I've seen it, I believe I have it. (I do take medications that say to stay out of intense/direct sunlight). I've found that if I put sun block on, I'm not reacting to the sun.

I have very pale (and I have dark, dark brown hair and brown eyes). As I've said in other posts, my mother has told me that I look like death warmed over and I've had friends tell me that Vampires would be envious of my pale complexion.

I am not a fan of the tanned look. Though my husband does have a dark olive complexion and so does my daughter.

I think the reason I don't like the tanned look is because I have an Aunt who was into the heavy, heavy tanning (she is a self-admitted sun worshipper) who know looks like an old leather saddle bag. *shudder*

I don't blame you.....I think the people who go tanning every day of the week, especially in the higher beds, and then on top of that spend hours in the sun, and are so ungodly dark that it looks fake, they look disgusting.

Goodness,my mother would do that. At one point, she was orange.

So, I went up to her and started singing the Oompa Loompa song.

Then she knew to quit going so much. She went so much that she had to get this stuff for her nails so they would stay pink, rather than go yellow. She looked so much older and leathery.

I have pale skin with a bit of olive complexion from my Italian side. I like how I look either pale or lightly tanned. If I get a tan at all, it's from being outside. I used to want to tan, but I saw how my mom and friends looked and that scared me away from it.

Out of all my friends who go tanning, I have the smoothest and greatest looking skin.

I thought the orange look was more a result of cheap tanning creams. I've never seen anyone turn that colour naturally.

I turn "red." Then I turn "flaky", then I turn "white" again.

Anyone see There's Something About Mary? Remember that old lady? There. That's the look you get from roasting yourself in the sun over a long period of time. O.o

Tanning beds do it too. That and she would lay out in the sun on top of that.

I think a light golden tan looks nice on women, and I like my men dark skinned, like italian-looking. Yowza!

I am an odd mix. My mom is of irish descent and very, very white. She burns, then turns back to white. She is very dark haired and has dark green eyes.

My dad is dark complected. Golden brown eyes, very dark brown hair and tans like a mutha!

I resemble my dad pretty strongly, except that skin-wise I lean toward my mom, with one big difference: if I work at it, I apparently have enough of my dads traits in me that I'll EVENTUALLY tan to a very pretty golden color. I used to have the patience to do this, but I don't anymore.

I keep my naturally dark hair dyed blonde and my eyes are bluish-green (not sure how THAT happened), so it looks nice when I'm tan - I just dont bother with it usually.

You too? It doesn't matter how much sunscreen I apply, I'm still going to burn. Right now, my tan doesn't look too bad. But, when I was on vacation, I looked like a damn "color by numbers." Not only was I slightly tanned, but I had red splotches in random locations.
