I'm not expecting neighborhoods to be like Mayberry and have people running next door to borrow a cup of flour, but for pete's sake, you should at least LOOK at who lives around you.

Wow, you seriously need to keep up with the latest news! The witness doesn't live in Cambridge. She works in Cambridge! she called 911 for an elderly neighbor. You can hear the call transcripts online. The witness has been recvieving death threats from the Gates side. Just for doing the right thing

Further more, I doubt she was sitting at the window, gazing out the whole time. Thus the first she'd have seen is someone at the door, trying to shoulder it open. From a distance. I dunno about you, but when I shoulder something open, I'm turned sideways, and my face is towards the object a bit, and I lean in to it. This would disguise my height and obscure my face.

And my ability to recognize a person at a distance would be severely compromised in such a situation.
Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.

In that case, I stand corrected. Sorry, have had a horse show I've been getting ready for so haven't really had time to watch and read a ton this week.

Don't you play the "I have a life" card with ME missy! I've cleverly sidestepped that trap by NOT having a life!

              Oh thanks!
Actually, we managed to pick up reserve Junior Amateur high point, even though I'm on a 3 year old colt, and we almost took out one of the judges in a pattern class. Ha!

A similar story actually happened to a friend of mine...it's complicated, but we were roommates, and due to our shitty neighbors my friend moved out. But he was still paid up for another month, so it was technically still his apartment.

One night our shitty neighbor decided to vandalize both of our cars. I left at this point to go find the town (small town, late at night, he wasn't at the station, but I knew where I could find him) meanwhile my friend goes next door to "discuss" the situation with the neighbor. Perhaps not the brightest thing to do, but anyway...

Cop shows up, tells my friend to go home. He says ok, then runs next door to make sure my apartment is locked up. He comes out, the cop fucking tackles him and arrests him for criminal trespassing!

of course my friend starts flipping out at this point, yelling stuff at the cop like "You are so fired! I'm gonna have your fucking badge man!"

Side note - could that be considered "threatening" an officer?

So anyway, up to that point it was understandable - cop doesn't know he had every right (more so than the cop did!) to be there, however, after bringing the situation to MY attention, and thus my clearing up the misunderstanding, my friend should have been released from jail.

Probably not. Threatening an officer usually has to involve threats against person or property, not their job.

Plus I'm sure that gets thrown at cops just as much as "I'm going to talk to the owner/manager/corporate" does in retail
