Aw, he's not that goofy looking. Sarkozy, now HE's goofy looking. Got those dumbo ears that must be some kind of sex symbol in France (Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Brel...).

...What were we talking about again?

As for being beaten, that'd likely be taken as an act of open aggression.
A country you're at war with could hold you as a spy, and if you're at war with someone there's already been an open act of aggression.

Again, reporter. They go for the big story. Some are even stupid about it.

And not to put too fine a point on it, but there's "being at war," and there is being at war. The US is at war with North Korea. But it's not shooting.

Still shots don't do him justice. You needed to see him in action. He was a big gesticulator, for one.
Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.

Dude, Carla Bruni is hot. That's what confuses me. I mean, just being French does lend that certain je ne sais quoi, but some of these guys just are not pretty.

I mean this guy was with Bridget Bardot and Jane Birkin:

At least Brel had a good voice going for him:

Gainsbourg just kind of...mutters along. Bob Dylan of France?

(Yeah, I know Brel is Belgian. But he sang in French and made his fame and fortune in Paris.)

Back on topic: The North Korea thing really worked out well for everybody. The two reporters did spend time in jail, they were released, and the North Koreans got something they've been wanting for years, a visit with President Clinton.

Well, there was the guy in Singapore, I think, that was caned and there was a great outcry about that.

I think if you go to a country, break their laws, you should be punished.

My mom told me that when my Dad was stationed in England, they (the servicemen and their families) were given a list of instructions of what they could and could not do whilst off base, interacting with the "natives" (so-to-speak).

Customs and laws vary so much between cultures that it is very wise to check out what's different before you leave.

Breaking the law in such a fundamental manner (as in the OP) is just asking for trouble though!

There's a saying "When in Rome, do as the Romans". When a person visits another country they are guest and should follow the law of that country. If you do a crime expect to be treated like a local criminal.

There's currently an Australian who's just pleaded guilty for drug trafficking (taping 3 kilos to his body... be stupid not to plead guilty!), and thus has been saved the death penalty..instead, is only serving a life sentence.

I do get narky when our government puts out all stops for criminals doing such blatantly stupid things, though... 'accidental' law-breaking, I can understand, but to deliberately flout the local laws... meh! (Hi Chappelle!)

AS for the girls in the OP... what, I presume that since they're not in England, the law enforcement personnel are stupid??? I mean... if you're going to fake a theft, don't leave the goods under your own bed!!! How moronic was that? (obviously, they'd make great lawyers...)
ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

Maybe they should consider a change of career and get into politics instead?

Where the phrase, "Bitch set me up!" helps you get reelected multiple times.

(Mayor Marion Berry got caught bying and using crack cocaine on video, and still got reelected numerous times. He now still works as a politician in the area.)
