Why such a black and white view about diets from the Fat Acceptance community?

We fatties make up a growing number, so why should we believe that everyone is out to get us? We are most of everyone.
I've changed my diet after fingding out that there are three green vegetables I love. I don't expect to lose much weight, but I do hope to live longer because of it.
Is one of them arugula? I had a salad at a restaurant the other day, with arugula in it and it was delicious!

      I don't believe I've tried that one.
My present favorite green veggies are broccoli, brussel sprouts, and canned asparagus. Canned, because I don't like fresh tree trunk texture, but do like the mushy kind.

However if you do not allow support from those not in your "group" you're pretty much doomed to fail. Again due to "tribalism". When the only people calling for civil rights are those affected no one cares much as it "isn't their problem" it's the problem for the "insert chosen oppressed group here", which no one cares about or listenes to(they just need thicker skin, they're overreacting, blah blah blah); however once others get involved it helpes the cause a bit as it causes some to say-"well Bob's my neighbour, he's pretty level headed and he's for it-maybe, just maybe there is something to all this rabblerousing....."

"Doomed to fail" is far more optimistic than I would ever believe about any human society. Not enshrining "us vs. them" into law is the modern fluke, and certainly not the norm.

Just realised something. If the fat acceptance people were so adamant, they'd be holding fat pride marches, just like the gay demographic does. I'm scurrilously trying not to think of the reason why not

Sorry, everyone - I just had the thought and couldn't stop myself.

                  Haha, bastard. ^^

In all blunt honesty the fact that "Fat Acceptance Movement" and "Fat Discrimination" have even become terms in our vocabulary makes me want to slap people. Very hard.

Yes, there *is* something wrong with being too fat, just as there is something wrong with being too thin. Its not healthy. End of story. Humans, like most animals, instinctively look for signs of weak health or genetics in other animals and react accordingly. Its a defense mechanism against disease, an indicator of an easy meal and a horrible non-compassionate sign of "Ok lets put Bob at the back of the herd and pretend we can't hear him screaming. Its better this way.".

Fat is a sign of health, and one that for 99.8% of people can exercise ( horrible choice of words I know ) some measure of control over. The whole idea of a fat acceptance movement just strikes me as incredibly self centered. No offense.

Of all the things about ourselves and our appearance we have no control over, hearing people piss and moan about the one thing they have a shot at controlling irks me to no end.

Hell, if we had an Anorexia Acceptance Movement they'd be eviscerated by the media bandwagon.

Sure. I have. I just come up with an appropriate mix of fantasy species to give the approximately correct physical traits. Sounds stupid, but I gotta say, on a lot of days, it's better than being human

                          I'd tend to agree.

I'd go with either an android or a Vulcan myself. I'd even go for a Vorlon, but I'm pretty sure it's mortal races only, pity
