  • Since Gay Marriage Is An Abomination ...

... and we should return to a traditional marriage, I think we should hear this man out. Let the voters of California show us they truly stand for a traditional marriage!

I like the way that he's going to be going for signings in front of gay nightclubs. If the patrons are able to think about it, they'd be doing unto others as others did unto them

Trying to work out if he's a genuine nutjob or if he's trying to hold up the intolerant people to a harsh light and explain what it really means to follow what they say.

I *think* he's trying to make people realize that they don't actually want to defend traditional marriage. Not positive, of course, since I believe that there are people sufficiently crazy to like this idea.

And, if he really is using this as a way to make people realize they don't want to defend this idea, then I have to applaud him. The idea is sheer genius.

I'm pretty sure he's not a nutjob, but you know what, I'd sign the damn thing.

I'm pretty sure you're correct. Read this particularly clever statement:

"People who supported Prop 8 weren't trying to take rights away from gays, they just wanted to protect traditional marriage. That's why I'm confident that they will support this initiative, even though this time it will be their rights that are diminished. To not support it would be hypocritical."

He knows they're hypocritical and can't wait to prove it.

          Here's the clincher for me:

"Jesus said, "What God has put together, let no man separate." Divorce is a sin.
Fun fact: Jesus never once mentioned homosexuality. Probably some sort of clerical oversight that will be rectified in the end of days..."

I think I love this guy.

I like the line about Sarah Palin being president in 2012 and/or the world ending. *snicker*

              Banning Divorce

Didn't want to risk putting this up elsewhere but thought it was amusing.

              http://www.suntimes.com/news/nation/...113009.article

"The effort is meant to be a satirical statement after California voters outlawed gay marriage in 2008, largely on the argument that a ban is needed to protect the sanctity of traditional marriage. If that’s the case, then Marcotte reasons voters should have no problem banning divorce."

I have merged Shangri-laschild's post with the existing thread on the topic. Thanks for the link to the updated story!

Just reading his Q&A carefully, you can find little hints he drops that this is intended to be a satirical thing, though a well-written one.

Hunt down his web site and look at the t-shirt, which shows a stickman and stickwoman (think American restroom signs) straining againt a set of shackles with a heart-shaped lock.

I've said it before and it bears repeating: This fight isn't about gay rights; it's about human rights.

I find it funny, in a way: While I don't agree with abolishing divorce, it has ruined many homes. Of course, it has also saved people, who needed to get the living fuck away from each other! Gays marrying has not done any actual damage. And yet which are they rallying against?

I think you've just uncovered the real agenda against gay marriage! If gays marry, that means there are so many more potential divorces, and thus the divorce rate will go up, which will never do!

Even that's faulty reasoning, if gays have the same percentage of divorce as hetero's then the divorce rate will stay the same.

Hmm, yes. Faulty, but funny. However, with more marriages, there will be more divorces!

Since divorce is a bad thing, and divorce only comes after a marriage, then marriage is obviously a bad thing!
