I live here, but haven't been to this particular SA store. Despite being an avid thrift store goer, I'm not particularly brave enough to go to this one, since it's in the worst neighborhood in the city.

I do know that this store used to have uniformed, off-duty Cincy cops at all times to keep order, as most stores in this neighborhood do. Not sure if the cop was there and witnessed it firsthand, or if the police were actually called.

Here is an update on the story from our local station. The comments from a so-called local parenting website that are listed are appalling. Some people are actually DEFENDING this woman. Jesus! No one likes to hear a screaming kid in public, but how in the hell does that give anyone the right to touch someone elses kid?

Except that if I'm reading the article you linked right, all the kid did was "talk back" to his MOTHER, not the lady who spanked him! (Please, someone tell me I'm reading this wrong! How can you POSSIBLY justify spanking a stranger's kid for saying something to his mother?! Mind you, I have no idea how you justify spanking any random kid in a store...)

According to the article, the mother had the kid taken off her lap and she pushed the attacker away, so at least she was there and did respond.
