I believe the photograph is from a different case.

It is understood that the boy is preparing for an operation to change his gender. The first step is to take hormone treatment. But the procedure is illegal here until after puberty.
The bit that may have confused you is that the Sun had reported that the boy had undergone the surgery and the article also mentins Kin Petras, who is the youngest person to undergo gender re-assignment surgery, she's from Germany, that's who the picture is of.

That's why I posted the Mail article; the Sun reported it wrongly. The girl hasn't yet had the surgery, and won't have it til she's gone thru puberty as it's actually illegal in England for that kind of surgery to take place at 12.

Ah. Yeah, it was kind of confusing. Thanks for the clarification.

I think most all countries don't allow gender reassignment surgery until after pubert or 18 years of age simply for the reason that the body is still changing.

And on another note, I know she's only 17 but am I the only one who thinks Kim Petras is stunning?

Oh and as for the child being too young
gender identity disorder is often diagnosed in early childhood and transition by children under 12

I thought that too. They have come a long ways with these kinds of treatments. Sometimes you see someone who has gone through the surgery and/or hormones of a gender change and you can kind of "tell" that they had it done, or are still on the hormones. If I had seen a picture of Kim and didn't know her story, I wouldn't have known any better.

While I believe he has a right to dress as he wishes, this kid is now going to be seriously messed up. He will be teased, he will be beaten up and maybe worse. If he ever changes his mind or wears gender neutral clothing he will never hear the end of it. Bullies are relentless and will use anything and now they've been given ammo for the next 5 years or more.

I think it would be a bad idea for him to have this operation now, maybe start him on hormones sure but I think they should wait until he is older, if he is the youngest person to ever have this surgery then they don't really know what it is going to do too him. He will lose his testerone producing capabilities and then go through puberty, I think that will have some interesting results.

Hence it being illegal in the UK to start hormone treatment before puberty.

And this isn't something that people just "change their mind" about.

That person did, though his wife leaving him was pretty high likelihood, methinks.

I suspect it's more to do with money and not getting what you want anyway than anything else.

Can't seem to find any other cases, though I did read (some years back) about one doctor who changed to female, back to male, and then wanted to go to female again. Can't imagine the scar tissue involved there...

I agree. Absolutely pathetic. I wonder how many of these parents are Bible bashers, who are upset because this might make their children question what the man who lives in the sky thinks.

12 is pretty darn in the middle of puberty for many boys.
                        I had a sex drive at 10.

It is sad that this boy gets tormented for his preference for dresses.

Maybe it's because I don't have a gender identity. Male is what I am, not who I am. The idea that anyone would care that much about their genatalia to want dangerous surgery is completely foriegn to me.
If I woke up a woman tomorrow, I would not give a care. As long as I'm at least as ok looking as I am now, I would be fine.
