  • Couple denied marriage license in Louisiana

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091015/...rracial_rebuff

Basically in a nut shell interracial couple goes to get a marriage license and gets denied by the judge because "I'm thinking of any children they may have. Interracial marriages never last and their children aren't accepted by society" He's not racist BTW he has ceremonies for black people all the time. He just doesn't allow interracial marriages. Seriously? Supreme Court ruled a LOOONNG time ago that you can't tell people who they can or can't marry. WTF?

Yes, he is. 100% racist. Not a doubt. "It's okay for blacks to marry blacks, and for whites to marry whites, but you can't mix them. It doesn't work. It's wrong."

    That, my friends, is racist.
Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.

        Hey, he's not racist.

He even lets black people use his bathroom!

Seriously, I am having a hard time believing that this is not some sort of satire.

Agreed. He had no right to deny that couple their marriage license because of his personal views on interracial marriage AT ALL.

And he's using the best line of all time to allow it to happen: "But think of the children".... That makes it ok.

            /sarcasm.

              Two things racists always say:

              1. That they have "lots of black friends" and
              2. They are just worried about the children.

Well, guess what? The only people who have problems stemming from interracial marriages/children are the racists pretending the concern.

Sure they can. See "Gay Marriage".

                  ha
i read that article today and just KNEW 'hey this is going up on fratching somewhere'

and yea the guys racist. see waht i dont get is the article says he's denied interracial couples lisences before... and this is the first we're hearing of it??? wtf. why?

and the whole 'children' thing. A. it's a cop out and B. i did not realize that in order to procreate one had to be MARRIED.

so this whole 'single mothers' and 'kids born out of wedlock' is really a scam and a vast conspiracy? because apparently all these people were married to the people that they fucked.

                  who knew!!!!

lol I thought the same thing when I saw it.

I used to get this same crap from my parents. "Son we don't want you datin' no black girls." Not because they were racist, understand, but simply because it wouldn't be accepted by society! And the kids wouldn't be accepted! Same as with gay people, or as my dad would call them, those....well nevermind. His argument was that if a gay couple adopted a child, the child would get made fun of in school.

Way to teach people to have no backbone! What ever happened to standing up for yourself? Yeah, I bet at first, in certain parts of the world, or even just the country, children of "different" couples would be made fun of and teased. And that'd happen for a while, until people realized its not a big fucking deal and got over it.

I like how in his "experience" interracial marriages tend to fail, too.

Unlike all the "racially pure" (I feel dirty just typing that. ) marriages in this country that are set in stone and last forever, right?

I would love to hear what he has to say about a racially mixed person who is trying to get married. What if someone were biracial? Could he marry either side or neither?

One of my friends (J from the Crazy Fan Lady story on CS) is black/asian and married to a white woman. They have two boys (both of which look entirely asian...man, that is some strong genes right there) I wonder if that would make his head explode? Man, how fun would THAT conversation be to spy on?

I live in Vancouver. I'm having difficulty thinking of anyone I know in a "racially pure" relationship. I seriously don't know anyone....all my friends and coworkers here are in mixed relationships now that I think about it. Even my ex is Chinese.

Half an hour here would make that guys head explode. -.-

Seriously? My head might explode trying to follow this persons "Logic" (lol logic...) Bits of Mytical brains everywhere. Personally if two people love each other, who cares what race (or sex) they are. If they are wise enough to know what they are getting into, more power too em. People tend to hate what they can not understand or comprehend. Which is sad. I may never be able to wrap my brain around what say a Homosexual thinks, but by golly I will support their right to think it . Less competition for me (<--said with tongue in cheek).

As for two different 'races' and marriage. We are all the same where it matters, on the inside. The outward appearance just makes us unique. What next? Brown eyed people can only marry brown eyed people?

I expand on your wish to add any group of people too.
It's only convention that strips groups of the legal right to wed.

From my experience, I don't think my parents would have a problem if I was dating an Aboriginal person BUT, they'd want a reliable one first (basically, there's been some problems with them physically and mentally)

As for the judge in the OP, what the heck?! He's definitely racist no doubt about it.
I wonder what they'd say about interracial gay marraiges?
