It did say they were all males and most likely went to that school, so its possible they were all friends or knew each other otherwise.

I always been a firm beliver in equality. Fair is fair. Thus why in death, all are equal. The punishment should fit the crime. They want to do that to other people, then its only fair it should happen to them. Then they would know what they did. They would experenced what they did to another. Maybe then they'll learn a lesson.

So, again I find myself taking the stand of "while it's a funny joke to say 'Bubba's gonna make you his bitch,' I cannot support the reality regardless of deserving it." I cannot internally justify crossing the line from justice, punishment and rehabilitation to vengeance. I hold humanity to a higher standard than simple retaliation.

I agree. Vengeance is pure animalistic and not deserving of even semi-serious jokes.
The article says dimly lit alley. That sounds like those passing by may not have really noticed that a rape was happening.
There are many young people into group sex. If the woman was unconscious, then witnesses could easily have just assumed it was nasty teens doing nasty things in a nasty place. All too common today.

Without derailing this thread before it even gets going, the fact that people watched and did nothing doesn't surprise me. Richmond, CA isn't the type of place you want to be caught alone in after dark. Crime happens and people ignore it to keep themselves from getting involved or being a victim themselves. But to stand there and watch as that girl was getting brutalized is down right disgusting.

To add insult to injury, the article says nothing will happen to these people because the state law says it's only illegal to not report it if the victim is 14 or younger. That's bullshit as well.
