Boy Scouts & Mormon Church being sued

Bwah? the Mormon Church Owns the boy scouts-they are not seperate.....

I just read that the Mormon Church is a sponsor (actually, the largest sponsor) of the Boy Scouts, along with the Catholic Church. While that may mean that the Mormon Church holds a significant position within the Boy Scouts, they do not own the Boy Scouts.

Unfortunately they do act like it. The Mormon Church has been known to push the Boy Scouts to hold to the beliefs of the Mormon Church.

When I was a boy I was a Boy Scout. I did not go to church. I was not a christian and it was never necessary that I be. No one was pushing religion now as noted above if you don't fit in with a christian ideal, not in anyway bashing Christians or any that hold that view, you suddenly cannot belong or lead a non religious organization.

I do not know about the Boy Scouts in other countries but in the USA it seems to be becoming more religiously based. As a boy I was taught morally straight meant doing the right thing and standing up for what was right. Not following the bible.

I think making a judgment call like this will deprive many boys of being part of an organization that I see as beneficial to helping them learn to be self reliant and honorable.
