    I'll leave it at that.

More like a barrel full of apples that are all a little rotten, with a significant portion half-rotten and more than a few extremely rotten.

When just about everyone around you either in ignorance or deliberately makes you feel like you don't belong, it's probably because they don't want you to belong. If so, why work with or around them?

I agree. But where does it say that a majority of the student body s in ignorence or is making her feel unwanted? Im only reading a few names.

And if you read the comments below the article, theyre saying its not JUST b/c shes not black, but b/c she was an off campus transfer student and they feel like she can not embody what Miss H. University really is. Whether thats true or not, IDK. Im not saying @ all that isnt racially motivated, just not fair to call all 5,700+ of those students rotten and ignorant.

Its easy to be up in arms about "blacks only colleges" and the United Negro College fund, but people seem to forget there was a time when things like this were NECESSARY for a person of african american descent to be able to succeed in this country. Even if you feel they arent necessary anymore, they were started for a reason.
I wholeheartedly agree that we did need those things when they were started. But behavior like what happened at this college makes me think, "Do we STILL need them?" I am not saying that we absolutely don't, I am just throwing it up as a side discussion.

And to counter-argue that (not that I personally agree with it) there was a "reason" that back in the day, there were whites only schools and the like.......

As ignorant and hickish as that sounds, that's the way things were for many years. And yes, it's taken a lot of time and things are still bassackwards in many ways, but we've been working on that ever since.

I don't think after declaring it was wrong to make things "whites only", it was the right thing to do to create blacks only schools, blacks only scholarships (or replace black with whatever minority group you like). To me, it just seemed like a step in the wrong direction.

And I am not speaking of colleges only because I'm a bitter angry lower middle class poor white girl, although it is frustrating that because of the color of my skin, it means that I must be well off (or at least, my parents must be) and that I don't need any help and you damn whities don't deserve any special colleges or scholarships.
