  • MRS degree

I am not talking about people whose priorites change I am talking about women that go to college with the sole purpose of finding and marrying a man so that they can stay at home and raise the kids.

Am I wrong in thinking this is offensive as maybe someone whom you beat out to get into said college actually wanted to go so they could get a degree for themselves to have a career?

Aren't you by doing this denying someone else a chance that you don't want?

    Thoughts?

I personally have a huge problem with a lot of kids my age (ok we aren't really kids....and since I'm not a traditional student anymore, I should say kids 18-21) who go to college on mommy and daddy's dime or on tons of scholarships from being super jock for the sole purpose of partying and getting laid (mostly partying) all the damn time every fucking day and night.

There are people right now, like me, who cannot afford to go to school, or would have to give up their job (or have their hours cut or have to get different living situations) to be able to devote enough time for school. I would take it very seriously and would want that damn degree. I'm not saying I'd never go out to the bars again, but you can bet if I'd ever gotten a degree or my parents gave me a dime for school, I wouldn't have wasted it the way these worthless shits do.

Decent bet half of these kids are going to flunk out or already have.

Edit: I just feel the need to say, I don't think everyone who has scholarships or well-off parents or parents who are helping them is squeaking by and screwing off. There's just a few too many of my former classmates from high school whom I know aren't paying a red cent for school or their place to live right now and I see them out and about all the time partying it up and it upsets me.

In the college I went to if you lived on your own it did not matter that your parents paid for everything they only looked at your income for grants.

This meant you could get a free ride if your parents paid every dime for you but if you were paying for it all yourself but lived at home you had to get loans.

Some colleges and universities have what is called "open admission." That means that as long as you have a high school diploma (or an acceptable equivalent) and have a minimum ACT/SAT score, they will accept you. The college I went to was like that. If someone goes to that type of college for an MRS, then I wouldn't say much. But if she beat out several people at a more competitive school, then yeah, I'd say she's being pretty selfish and inconsiderate.

But you don't understand. To get the right kind of husband, she has to go to a selective school. You won't believe the kind of people they let in at the other schools.

I'd say 'sarcasm mode off', but I'm sure most of them probably think just like that.

I actually had a girl trying to get her MRS (with me) degree the first time I was in college.

They choose their targets wisely. You don't have to go to a selective school to make money afterwards.
