  • School Supplies Protested

Several Missouri schools are complaining about notebooks & pencils with designs similar to President Obama's presidential bid logo

One notebook has a picture of a bunch of change, the word "Change" is above it and the words "We can believe in" with a logo that looks like President Obama's "O" from his presidential bid signs at the bottom.

Are the schools going overboard? Is President Obama trying to indoctrinate our young?

I get that it's tied to Obama however I don't get how it would be considered indoctrinating kids. If that's a problem get rid of motivational posters in the classrooms or anything else that might have a message.

On the other hand why would a school specifically order these I kind of doubt they did my guess they ordered the surplus and this is what was surplus.

Uhm also when did the schools start buying the kids' school supplies? In the schools around here that is the parents responsibility to buy the kids' individual supplies.

Many schools have vending machines for things like pencils, pens, and paper. This is one of those.

My daughter's school does provide water bottles with the school's name on it for students so they can have water whenever they want during the school day. It stays in my daughter's cubbie and never comes home until summer vacation.

I was thinking these were supplies that the school sold in like school store. I remember having one in high school.

Okay I am sorry if it is supplies that are being sold then the parents need to back off. I am sorry if you don't like it don't buy it.

I understand if your upset cuz it's supplies your child is forced to use but optional supplies. Whatever.

Though they bear resemblance to his "logo", I doubt Obama is the one distributing these notebooks to schools. I dont think the pres is in the manufacturing, print and binding business. :P

No disrespect, but is this level of paranoia really necessary? I seriously doubt Obama is the one responsible for putting these things in the school.

Maybe it's not appropriate to have political stuff for sale at school, but in any sense, just because the kids see a political message doesn't mean their automatically going to side with that message.

I asked those questions not because I believe in them, but because they popped in my head as I read the article and read the hysteria in the words of the people who are protesting these items.

Two points. When I went to school hearing the slogan "Ask not what you country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" was pretty common. Now grant JFK at that point was dead, but I was a slogan, and I remember teachers having posters of great politicians in their room, and when ronald regan spoke to classrooms, etc. So to me it's nothing new. The only difference with alot of slogans was that the people were dead. However....

this goes to my next point if it's a message to inspire students what does it matter, because Obama will be unelectable when these kids get old enough to vote anyway. So really you can't convert them into an Obama supporter, just remember his place in history.
