Climate change does happen naturally, it's happened throughout the history of this planet, however the pollution humans are creating is speeding up the process and taking it towards much further extremes.

Honestly, I find it a bit sad if that is the only reason you refuse to use the term "global warming". Just because its not happening right where you are means it's not happening?

Doesn't the term "global warming" imply, well, that it's global? Doesn't global mean everywhere on the earth?

This is why "climate change" is such a better term.

        Perhaps I'm wrong.
The key to an open mind is understanding everything you know is wrong.

No, it refers to the average temperature of the earth's atmosphere.

The earth has been cooling and heating for millenia. Why assume that this time it's cuz of 200 years of human pollution, when the earth has existed for billions of years? That's like claiming a single ant was responsible for your house burning down.

A single ant could be responsible for your house burning down, if he chews on the right wire. Same thing on a global scale.

I don't deny it's happening - I deny their claims at the causes.

Just think - longer growing seasons in the US's breadbasket and Canada - even a growing season in areas where there isn't one far to the north.

The world was warmer than it is now during Egyptian and Roman times - don't tell me it was pollution that caused it?

Pro-global warming scientists also like to use the mid 1800s as a point of reference at how much the temperatures changed. Of course it's warmer - the world was in a min-ice age then!!

Yep and we do have the power and technology to really improve our lives, too bad politics get in the way most of the time.

The planet has survived for billions of years before us and I'm sure it'll survive for at least a few more billion (until the sun swallows it) after we're gone.

                  Um...huh?

All I know is that the weather in my home state has quite well and thoroughly screwed the farmers; record amounts of rainfall plus a terrible ice storm in January really effed this entire year up.

I agree that the planet will be fine whatever we do....we just might not be around to enjoy it.

Ants don't chew wires. Nor will climate change kill the planet. It'll kill us, possibly, but the earth won't give a damn, figuratively speaking, any more than it did when climate change killed off other species.

not the wires themselves, but some species, particularly fire ants, will chew through the insulation on wires and can cause potentially hazardous shorts.
