  • You can pee in the parklands....

    ....just not outside a McDonalds.

I should explain a bit by what's meant by "the parklands" as well.

Basically, Adelaide in itself is described as a "planned city" by Colonel William Light (the designer/founder IIRC). This basically means that the entire city is spread out like a grid, making it easy to get to. Beyond the main area of the city (bordered by North, South, East and West Terraces) is a wide belt of green, known as the Adelaide Parklands. These are heritage listed as well.

They tend to be a bit of a squatting ground for homeless people, but are otherwise used for rock concerts, parking for big events (Such as the Royal Adelaide Show), playing fields for schools located within the city and so forth.

    The judge tho....

    So what's the problem?

It's illegal to pee in the parklands, apparently. The judge said, "It might be (illegal) but at least you would have probably gotten away with it." An odd thing for a judge to say.

it's a public place, so disorderly conduct/lewd behaviour/possible sexual offences (not sure on the last one...) all apply.
