I will freely admit to wearing and loving my $3 Old Navy plastic flip-flops in a variety of colors...in the summertime. They're cheap, comfy (seriously), slip on, and keep my feet cool. *shrugs* Different strokes, I guess.

Who wears shoes in their house? I'm not one of those who takes off shoes to protect the carpet, but when I'm inside, bare feet are just much more comfy.

I don't think flip flops look bad. I don't wear them myself, but I usually don't find them offensive on other people. It does look a little weird if people are wearing them in January when it's thirty degrees outside, but if they're not too cold, then who am I to complain?

Back when I was in college, I used to see a lot of people wearing flip flops and other summer clothes in the winter. I think that's a bit of a "college student" thing. Several years ago, I was reading an article in the Columbus Dispatch about this. They had interviewed a bunch of students at Ohio State who were wearing shorts, T-shirts, and flip flops despite the fact that it was late November and cold. They said that they had all made a pact to not stop wearing their summer clothes until the first snowfall came. I actually thought that was a little funny. When else could you do something like that other than in college?

The flip flops in winter was how people in my college knew who was gay (nods sagely then falls down laughing because people really had that theory)
