  • Where do I go to escape?

So I was driving along today, running some errands, and I saw the Hater today. I think we all know the Hater...the guy with those hateful religious messages, the most famous one being "God Hates Fags." This wonderful citizen graces our lovely island paradise with his messages, and has actually been beaten up a few times for it. Shockingly, he doesn't get much public sympathy when he does get his ass kicked.

Anyway, today I saw him out at one of the major intersections, and he had two of his wonderful signs. The first one was the standard "God Hates Fags" sign (a great sign to have in a town notorious for its large openly gay population), and a new one I had not see before: "Flee the Coming Wrath."

Okay, what? Let's say this guy is right, and God's Wrath is coming.

Just where the heck are we supposed to flee TO?!?!?!

Forgetting the bile that this man represents, this sign just seemed rather impractical. How does one flee God? And if God's Wrath is coming, I am guessing it is coming for the whole planet. Where shall we go?

It's kind of like telling your friend to stay dry when they are running out into torrential rain without a jacket or umbrella. While a nice thought (Thanks for the warning, Hater!), it doesn't really DO anything.

First mistake: trying to make sense of anything anyone from that supposed church says.
"My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

I wasn't trying to make sense out of it. I was merely mocking it derisively.

There's a lot of knowledge in his second sign. We should flee his God's wrath, because his God is an ass. This is the final destination, so it must be time for a final stand... arm up!

[sarcasm]He must be an advance scout... time to remove the threat?[/sarcasm]

They travel all over, although they do tend to stay in the midwestern/plains area these days. Seeing as how they are in my state, and my town is the "liberal" town in the state, they come here a lot. I have yet to see them protest a KU basketball game but it wouldn't surprise me a lick.

From what i hear, they'll be protesting at UC Davis soon. Tomorrow, I think. i can't think of a single reason as to why they'd choose to protest that school. Nothing recent has been done there to garner their attention, that I know of.

That's the thing, they don't require silly things like reasons to convince them to do something. Crazytown rhetoric will do just fine, and not much else... I mean, seriously. Once you've gotten to the point where you're taking orders from people like phelps, there's really no reason to go on living anymore... aside from meeting the daily crazy quota...

But, if God is as all-knowing as those nuts claim...wouldn't he be able to find you there too?

Other planets would work fine because these people also believe that they are Gods only instruments of divine justice. If there were none of them where you are, God is powerless!

If God is coming... he's going to find me relaxing on a couch or lounge chair with a drink. And, I'd be mightily offended if he didn't have a drink with me after he's come all the way for my sorry sack of bones. That and I'll be damned if I get up and go before I'm darn good and ready to get up and go.

So, yeah... I'm not escaping. Unless you count the bottom of a bottle.

And don't those sandwich boards just remind you of those targets you used to shoot at with BB guns or Bows & Arrows... and people voluntarily wear them?
