Short version: man trying to board a plane was arrested and detained for 4 hours. His contraband? English-to-Arabic flash cards.

Unbelievable. Someone's empty skull better roll over this.
    Customer: I need an Apache.
Gravekeeper: The Tribe or the Gunship?

Fuck empty skull. Someone's body will be lying in pieces on the floor with an Andalite nearby that has blood on its tail. That's how extreme this is.

And I thought it was bad enough that we're now supposedly introducing full-body scanners here (and the whinging has been unbelievable).

as a slight tangent... I still don't understand the big deal about body scanners... they only scan from the neck down and the person viewing them is in a different room... they have no idea who they are looking at... and from the pictures that have been released (which, I take with the grain of salt that they are press release photos) it looks like it shows an image that looks like a manican except you can see if there is any foreign objects that may be dangerous. Current techniques are I think more degrading than that... come on, go through the metal detector (after having to practically strip down anyway... no shoes, no belts, no jewelery, emptied pockets), then because the meter even blinks have a wand frisk... no thank you, I'll just walk in, be scanned and walk out thank you very much.

Back to the OP, yeah, some heads are going to roll for that one.

Actually I can think of an excellent use for these incompetent TSA's. Put them on the front lines of the Zombie Apocalypse. They'll starve from lack of braaaaains

This is assuming, of course, that the TSA agents aren't where the Zombie Apocalypse starts. Name one group of people more in want for even a speck of mildly-chewed brain matter?

              1. Politicians (I have a deep hatred for all politicians no matter which political party.)

              2. People with more authority than brains (some boss/manager types)

              3. 'Security Guards' who neither secure nor guard (*errm from different thread and the 2 species of groups might be closely related)

              4. Fundie Religious Types (no matter what religion they profess to be)

That's all I can think of now... I'm sure there are more out there though

Other than being a bit unfair towards politicians, I can't help but agree

Wow, when this happens there's gonna be plenty of zombies... anyone know where I can get a bulk rate on .223?

I am a bit unfair towards politicians. Let me explain my bias against them (without trying to start a new thread).
                  - I don't think 'politician' should be a job/career. I think you should have or at least held some other job/career first. Shouldn't just get a law degree and become a politician.
                  - They should retire abdicate at some point. If the Pres can't stay in office indefinitely why should politicians be allowed to? C'mon Strom Thurmond had to be wheeled in by his wife at 99 or 100 years old so he could attend a meeting? Ridiculous!
                  - They can (and have) voted themselves pay raises. Gee, I wish I could do that.
                  - You see them when they're running for office, and when there's a scandal. I wonder what they do the rest of the time?

As for the bulk rate on .223, I would suggest going directly to the manufacturer.

There are plenty of reasons why someone would want/need English-Arabic flash cards. Business, Government departments, religous or educational purposes (i.e. teaching students arabic)...people just jump on the obvious one which seems to be any Middle Eastern person=terrorist.

Why would you want a politician to have to have another job first? Ignoring the fact that most do, I think somebody should be allowed to concentrate on their career no matter what it is. It would be absurd for somebody to say that a plumber, who goes to school and is trained as a plumber, has to work as a secretary before he can be a plumber for example.

The one thing I can say about politicians having other jobs first, and this is normally brought up in campaigns and makes it somewhat of a moot point to make it a requirement of running, How are we to trust that this person can run a (city/state/country) when they haven't proven whether or not they can run something smaller, like a business or a military unit.

Thats a good point but I think the number of candidates running for a position that high without ever holding a position of less power is rare.

I was thinking more like Obama and the Kennedys and I'm sure there are other politicians who are career politicians. I was not knocking those who have had jobs/career before deciding to go into politics.

                              2. Constitution can be amended. And no, it never says that Senators and Congressmen can serve indefinitely. They just never mention any term limits.
Yes, I have been watching the healthcare hoopla. And the only thing I get out of it is that its a big hot-air fest. They are using other issues besides healthcare to deny the pushing forward of the healthcare bill. If the matter is healthcare - the let that be the only matter or business to attend to for that moment/issue. This is part of why I don't like politicians - they talk alot, and get very little actually DONE.
