If you say the first, then sorry, you do look down upon "the average American" and do have somewhat of an elitist attitude, if you say the second then apology accepted.
I believe I said that I have full respect for vo-tech, and I will add to that that CC's have their place in vocational training. Which is great! I mean, if that's where you want to go, I have complete respect for that. Everyone isn't meant to go to college, and getting appropriate training for a specific job is a fantastic option. In other words, to sum up again, there is nothing wrong with vo-techs and CC's that specialize in that kind of training. I'm going to college to further my career and get the training I need for the job I want. A person in a vo-tech program is doing the exact same thing.

But, no, I don't think somebody should be able to take their Gen-Eds at a CC and then have those credits transfer to a University. It's not a similar experience.

Woah woah woah. I NEVER made a comment about CC students. My first post was saying that it was a THEORY based on my own observations of people. Personally, I don't care if someone goes to a CC first.

My second post was agreeing with Admin about financial situations. I was agreeing with the fact that I came from a podunk town with very little financial background. A couple of times, my mom had to get food stamps. CC just wasn't the choice for me. It wasn't going to work for me. Hence, why I decided to go to a smaller branch of a University and chose to put myself in debt with the government.

I don't like having words put in my mouth.

then you need to talk to your fellow academia nuts about the concept of a second chance which is something no four year school is going to allow someone to do. And, frankly, I don't agree with the idea that someone should be told you didn't make it the first time tough luck, I hope you like welding/call center/retail/insert none college degree career here.
And on the note of experience, most of the places I've seen locally could care less how you learned the material just that you did learn the material. Something that having a universal standard (which Utah has) makes possible... it shouldn't matter where I learned the material that caused me to pass the final exam as long as it's the exact same final exam that everyone else takes.
